Happy Valley racing tips

Race 1. (21:40) Tuen Min Handicap (2200m)

#4 – Romantic Fantasy

Looking to cap off three consecutive placings is Romantic Fantasy, who ran second here three back before adding two placings at Sha Tin.

The six-year-old son of Fascinating Rock is only a one-time winner overall, but it’s only a matter of time before he wins.

Barrier four should ensure he gets every chance in the run.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (22:10) Tsuen Wan Handicap (1650m)

#1 – Ragga Bomb

Ragga Bomb isn’t the most consistent type going around, but he won by three lengths two starts back at Happy Valley, which is an excellent form guide.

The son of Kodi Bear followed it up with a placing at Happy Valley, so the penny might have dropped with him now.

Hugh Bowman rides, which doesn’t hurt his chances.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (22:40) Kwai Chung Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Bits Superstar

Looking to cap off four consecutive placings with a win is Bits Superstar, who should get every chance with 3kg coming off his back.

The five-year-old son of Capitalist was only a length behind the winner last time out at Happy Valley, which is where he does his best racing.

Barrier three suits, so punters should expect another tidy effort.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (23:10) Tsuen Wan Handicap (1650m)

#1 – Glorious Journey

Glorious Journey is hoping to go one better than his second placing last start, and this race is there for the taking.

The Frankie Lor-trained gelding owns two wins and three placings at Happy Valley, and getting an inside barrier adds to his appeal.

Punters should get each-way odds on race night.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (23:40) The Rotary Centenary Challenge Cup (1000m)

#10 – Copper Core

Copper Core is a former Australian who won at Balaklava on debut before placing at Morphettville behind Halliwell.

The four-year-old son of Magna Grecia hasn’t raced since August, but he could hit the ground running in his first start in Hong Kong.

Look for a betting push on race day, which will be telling.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (00:10) Kwai Chung Handicap (1200m)

#3 – King Profit

The five-year-old improved to run second at Sha Tin last time out, and that form should hold up well at Happy Valley.

His most recent run at Happy Valley was a close-up fifth, and there isn’t much form to suggest in this race, so he could capitalise.

Getting 1.5kg off his back should take him close.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (00:45) Kwai Chung Handicap (1200m)

#2 – Giant Ballon

Giant Ballon was too good for them last time out at Happy Valley when scoring by 2.5 lengths, and he could go back-to-back.

The four-year-old son of Mehmas owns a win and two placings from eight starts, and he could cap off a long preparation with another win.

Zac Purton rides from a wide barrier, so he’s the man for the job.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 8. (00:15) Fanling Handicap (1650m)

#8 – California Moxie

Shooting for consecutive wins is California Moxie, who scored a narrow victory over Glorious Journey.

That form could be franked earlier on the card, and the five-year-old gelding has found his best form with two wins this prep.

It’s another good ride for Purton, who doesn’t often miss with well-backed runners.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 9. (00:50) Kwu Tung Handicap (1200m)

#8 – California Blitz

Boasting impressive form this preparation is California Blitz, who owns two wins and four placings from seven starts at Happy Valley.

The four-year-old son of Capitalist won back-to-back races before posting three consecutive placings, so the form stacks up nicely.

He only needs to navigate the wide draw to go close.

Stake: 2 Units
