Ipswich racing tips

Race 1. (13:43) Gibson Architects Maiden (1200m)

#4 – Shipping Lane

Shipping Lane did well to improve when finishing fourth last time out at Doomben, and that’s a solid betting guide for this race.

The four-year-old son of Astern hit the line nicely enough to suggest a win is coming soon, and it’s not an overly tough field.

Look for a betting push as the Kendrick stable doesn’t mind having a crack.

Race 2. (14:18) Red Bull Australia C5 (1680m)

#6 – Sweet Proposal

Sweet Proposal won well fresh up Sunshine Coast before finishing fifth at Sunshine Coast, and her best form is good enough for this level of racing.

The five-year-old mare by Dundeel owns three wins and eight placings overall, and getting in with 54kg doesn’t hurt her chances.

We expect her to figure in the finish, so include her in horse racing picks.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (14:53) Tab Maiden (1680m)

#10 – She’s Got Lyrics

She’s Got Lyrics owns two second placings this preparation, and the five-year-old comes off a second placing at Doomben.

The daughter of Rubick fought gamely last start, and it’s only a matter of time before she breaks through for her maiden win.

We’ll be happy with anything around $3 on race day.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 4. (15:28) Barrier Reef Pools (1100m)

#6 – Heyoka

The five-year-old mare owns four wins from 10 starts, and she should be fitter with a recent trial under her belt.

She is a two-time winner fresh up, so she likes to hit the ground running, and we expect money to come for her on race day.

It’s not an easy midweek field, but she could be the best of them.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (16:03) Great Northern BM65 (1350m)

#10 – Lady Lucifer

Boasting two wins and four placings from seven starts is Lady Lucifer, who finished second last time out at Doomben.

The five-year-old mare gets all favours with Ryan Maloney in the saddle, and getting the inside draw is enough to see her win.

We expect money to come for her on race day, so lock in the early odds.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (16:38) Gordon’s Gin C1 (1680m)

#1 – Carnegie Hall

Each-way value could be with Carnegie Hall, who won well fresh up at Hawkesbury, which is a good form guide.

The four-year-old son of I Am Invincible hasn’t been too far away in two runs since, including a fourth at Newcastle last time out.

Getting 3kg off his back could be all he needs to win.

Stake: 2 Units
