Kempsey racing tips

Race 1. (12:20) Brookvale Union Maiden (1450m)

#4 – Turning Circle @ $2.10

Turning Circle is threatening to win a race after posting six placings from 12 starts, and this race is there for the taking.

The three-year-old filly by Star Turn hasn’t fired on a heavy track, but she owns five placings in soft conditions, so the track shouldn’t worry her.

Take the $2.10 odds before she firms close to start time.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 2. (12:55) John Oxley Motors Maiden (1000m)

#4 – Hayley’s Rocket @ $7.00

Looking to improve on a debut fifth is Hayley’s Rocket, who wasn’t too far away at Grafton.

The three-year-old filly by Written By was only 1.9 lengths behind the winner, so the run was better than it suggests.

Punters get value odds, so include her in picks for value.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (13:35) Tab Maiden (1250m)

#12 – Kirkall @ $5.50

On debut for Kris Lees is Kirkall, who hasn’t been asked for much at the trials, so punters get value odds.

The two-year-old son of Ole Kirk is bred for speed, and they often start with a bang from the Lees stable at this level.

He runs at each-way odds, so there is good value available.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:10) Panthers Port Macquarie C1 (1900m)

#5 – Heart of Platinum @ $4.80

Value is with Heart of Platinum, who won earlier this preparation at Taree before posting four consecutive placings.

The three-year-old filly by All Too Hard has more upside than most runners in this field, so we thought she would be shorter in the market.

Barrier 15 doesn’t help, but she has ample time to find cover.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (14:50) De Bortoli Wines BM58 (1000m)

#2 – Written Fame @ $3.20

Strong betting moves have come for Written Fame, who owns three wins and two placings from 14 starts.

The four-year-old son of Winning Rupert hasn’t been too close recently, but his best form should be too good for this field.

His best form comes on heavy tracks, so punters should be confident.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 6. (15:25) Win Network BM58 (1450m)

#8 – So You Can Torque @ $9.00

The Matthew Dunn-trained gelding wasn’t too far away when fifth fresh up, and slight improvement should take him close.

He is bred to be better than average, being a son of So You Think, and we thought he would be shorter in betting markets.

He’s a value pick at $9, so include him in horse racing predictions.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (16:05) Flower Hotels C1 (1250m)

#1 – Champonnet @ $5.50

Champonnet won well fresh at Casino before getting back to solid form with a second placing at Grafton.

The Matthew Dunn-trained gelding handles heavy track conditions, so the track won’t be an issue, and he should be tough to hold out.

Getting 2kg off his back could be enough.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:40) Carlton Dry BM58 (1250m)

#9 – Chestime @ $5.50

Chestime runs some of her best races fresh up with two placings from three starts, and despite her recent form being average, she should go close.

The five-year-old mare by Ribchester gets in light with only 55.5kg on her back, and against this field, she shouldn’t be worried.

The odds are shortening, so take the value.

Stake: 1 Unit
