The Metropolitan Form Guide & Tips
(1) Vauban ($10.00)
Vauban was close to being our best roughie after two solid efforts this prep, and he’s not far away from his best performance.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the double-figure odds.
(2) Arapaho (Best Roughie – $11.00)
He’s unbeaten in four fourth-up starts, and that could be overlooked by punters. He loves this situation, and he class on his side.
Money is starting to come for him, so take the current odds.
(3) More Felons ($101.00)
Big odds and little chance of turning his form around in The Metrop.
(4) Changingoftheguard (Best Each Way – $8.50)
He faced only a small field last start, but we like the way he held them off strongly to the line.
He could be building towards a big performance at Group 1 level, and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
(6) Athabascan ($46.00)
His runs this prep have been poor, so we can’t recommend him at big odds.
(7) Birdman ($6.00)
Drove to the line to score last start, and he has time to find cover from out wide. He has every chance of making it back-to-back wins, so don’t leave him out.
(8) Son of Sun ($151.00)
A good winner fresh up, but he didn’t fire last start. Not quite up to this level.
(9) Soul of Spain (Best Bet – $5.50)
Waller has taken him through his gears, and he pulled out all the stops when winning last time out.
He now has four consecutive wins, and getting in with a light weight makes him the toughest runner to beat. He’s our top Metropolitan pick.
(10) Etna Rosso ($11.00)
There has been solid money for him at double-figure odds following a tidy effort last start. He’s a first four chance, and the money could continue to come.
(11) Piggyback ($23.00)
He has come back to life with consecutive wins, but this race might be a touch too hard for her. Back her in something easier later this spring.
(12) Glory Daze ($26.00)
He never runs a bad race, and consistency is tough to come by in staying races. 50kg on his back is ideal, and he has good tactical pace.
We’re happy to include him at the odds.
(13) Royal Supremacy ($10.00)
His recent form has been excellent, including two wins and a placing. We’re not sure if we would post him at $10, but we’re not surprised by the odds.
A first four chance if you need another runner.
(14) Wyclif ($91.00)
The long odds aren’t surprising given his form, and we can’t entertain his chances.
(15) Don Diego De Vega ($41.00)
Mixed form this preparation, but he’s another runner that would need to improve to have any chance of winning.
(16) Flying Bandit ($23.00)
Better for two runs back from a spell, including a fourth last start. Heading in the right direction, so it’s a chance of winning.
(17) Travolta ($9.50)
A two-time winner and three-time placegetter from his last five starts. Running well, but the odds are a touch short for our liking.
(18) Juja Kibo ($16.00)
Money has come for him at a light weight, but he was beaten on his merits last start. We’re not sure where to place him here, so we’re happy to go with the more experienced types.
(19) Sun ‘N’ Sand ($101.00)
Doesn’t look up to this class, hence the odds.
