Might and Power Form Guide & Tips
(1) Light Infantry Man (Best Roughie – $14.00)
We’re happy to put Light Infantry Man to finish third behind Treasurethe Moment and Buckaroo. He should enjoy the small field, which could see him settle close.
He’s a type that likes to cause an upset at Group 1 level, so he’s included in our picks. He likely needed both runs back from a spell, so he’s primed and ready to run a big race.
(2) Buckaroo (Best Each Way – $2.50)
Buckaroo was huge when running second to Sir Delius at Caulfield, and that form has been franked at the top level since.
He might be heading towards the cups races, but he’s quick enough to win over 2000m, and we’re not surprised by the betting moves coming for him.
We expect him to fight out the finish with the favourite.
(3) Hezashocka ($61.00)
He’s not a shocker, but he’s highly unlikely to figure in the finish. Connections get a guaranteed top five finish, so that’s something.
We expect him to finish at the back of the Group 1 field.
(4) Globe ($10.00)
It’s tough to line up Globe in this race. He has been backed and beaten a few times this season, and those races didn’t come at Group 1 level in the Might and Power.
That’s the big concern when backing a horse of his nature, and we would prefer him in something easier. However, he’s an obvious first four chance because he only needs to beat one home.
(5) Treasurethe Moment (Best Bet – $1.75)
Her colours were lowered at The Valley last start, but being beaten by Pride of Jenni around a tight-turning track isn’t all that bad.
She is a star of the turf, and we expect her to get back to her winning ways on Saturday. We’re not surprised by the odds, which could firm throughout the week.
She will be running through many multi bets.
