Morphettville racing tips

Race 1. (12:32) Skycity BM78 (2008m)

#6 – Silent Emmy @ $3.10

Silent Emmy comes off consecutive wins, including one at Morphettville last time out, which is excellent form.

The six-year-old mare by So You Think is a two-time winner over the distance, and getting weight off her back helps her chances.

It could pay to take the odds available before they shorten.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (13:07) Adelaide Galvanising Industries BM78 (1600m)

#3 – Sav on Ice @ $2.25

Sav on Ice is loving life this preparation after posting three consecutive wins, including a victory at Morphettville in heavy conditions last start.

The four-year-old son of Puissance de Lune owns four wins from nine starts, and there are no superstars in this field, so he could take advantage.

Take the $2.25 before he firms to around $1.90 on Saturday.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 3. (13:42) Same Race Multi BM66 (1050m)

#3 – Captain Happy @ $4.80

Seeking consecutive wins is Captain Happy, who won by 1.8 lengths at Murray Bridge last time out.

The three-year-old son of Written Tycoon paid $2.45 when beating a handy maiden field, and we expect that form to stack up nicely.

Getting 3kg off his back helps, so he’s a leading chance.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (14:17) Vale Bob Robertson Handicap (1050m)

#1 – Beast Mode @ $2.60

Beast Mode has more class than most runners in this field, and he comes off a fourth at Flemington behind Losesomewinmore.

The six-year-old son of Better than Ready is a six-time winner, and although getting in with 62kg isn’t ideal, it shouldn’t matter too much over 1050m.

Take the $2.60 before he shortens on race day.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 5. (14:52) AIG Security Handicap (1508m)

#7 – Talisay @ $7.50

Talisay runs her best races fresh up with three starts for a win and a placing, including a win at Morphettville.

The four-year-old mare by Pride of Dubai gets down to 54.5kg, which is enough to see her run close against this field.

Punters get value odds at $7.50.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:32) Peter Elberg Funerals C2 (1600m)

#1 – Proven Correct @ $3.90

Proven Correct who is better than his form suggests, and although he’s only a two-time winner, he has another one coming.

The five-year-old son of Justify is getting close to posting a win at Morphettville with three placings from four starts, so the record speaks for itself.

Getting 2kg off his back is ideal, so he has every chance to win.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (16:07) Behemoth Stakes (1200m)

#3 – Is It Me @ $4.60

Gunning for four consecutive wins is Is It Me, who won all three starts at Flemington, and that’s an excellent form guide.

The six-year-old son of Iffraaj won by 3.8 lengths last time out, so that form is tough to overlook for racing in Adelaide.

Getting $4.60 is much better than expected, and his fresh up form bodes well.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (16:47) Fast Form BM66 (1200m)

#6 – Nurys @ $5.00

Nurys showed good form earlier this preparation with back-to-back wins, and something close to that is solid form for Saturday’s race.

The six-year-old daughter of Squamosa has yet to finish worse than third with Todd Pannell in the saddle, including two wins.

The form is impressive, so include her in picks at each-way odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (17:22) Thomas Farms Handicap (1050m)

#12 – Major Rumble @ $3.90

Major Rumble won well on debut at Murray Bridge before finishing fifth at Morphettville against a tricky field.

The four-year-old son of Capitalist defeated Captain Harry on debut, so that form could be franked earlier on the card.

Barrier three is ideal, so everything points towards a solid performance.

Stake: 2 Units
