Morphettville racing tips

Race 1. (12:27) Quayclean Handicap (1050m)

#1 – Our Brave Boy @ $4.50

Having race experience could help Our Brave Boy get the job done at Morphettville, following a second placing at Pakenham.

Form in Victoria typically stacks up well in South Australia, and the Phillip Stokes-trained gelding was only a nose behind the winner.

We expect him to win a race very soon.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (13:02) Thomas Farms BM66 (1050m)

#3 – Mic Drop @ $2.35

Enjoying a good campaign is Mic Drop, who already has three wins this preparation.

The Will Clarken-trained mare won at Muswellbrook twice before coming to Morphettville and scoring a 1.3-length win last time out.

It’s good form, and she could keep her winning run going on Saturday.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (13:37) Adelaide Galvanising Industries Handicap (1600m)

#5 – Flaming Eyes @ $6.00

Flaming Eyes is in red-hot form following wins at Morphettville and Murray Bridge, and this race is there for the taking.

The four-year-old mare by Street Boss had been running well without winning, but now that she has broken through, she’s quickly rising through the grades.

With the 3kg claim, we’re happy to include her in our picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:12) Festival Hire BM78 (1600m)

#7 – Teardrop Rotation @ $3.10

Running well this preparation is Teardrop Rotation, who kicked things off with back-to-back wins before placing last start.

The four-year-old mare by D’argento is a five-time winner from just 14 starts, so she has a good strike rate, and she could add to it.

Getting the inside draw is enough to take her close.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:47) The Fotobase Group Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Discreetly Blue @ $6.50

Boasting six placings from 10 starts is Discreetly Blue, and loyal punters would love to see him score an overdue win.

The four-year-old son of Blue Point ran third at Gawler last start, and natural improvement should be enough to take him close.

It’s a good chance to break the duck, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:22) Winning Edge Presentations BM68 (1800m)

#3 – Mellifluent @ $5.50

Looking to cap off consistent form with a win is Mellifluent, who scored at Morphettville in November before adding three placings to his record.

The four-year-old son of Exceed and Excel doesn’t meet an overly tough field on Saturday, and given his recent form, he should handle it well.

We expect money to come for him on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (15:57) Sportsbet Fast Form C2 (1500m)

#2 – All Too Mysti @ $6.00

Seeking back-to-back wins is All Too Mysti, who dug deep to score at Strathalbyn last time out.

The Jolly-trained mare owns two wins and eight placings from 15 starts, so she doesn’t often run a bad race.

Getting the inside draw adds to her appeal, so include her in Morphettville picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:37) Dominant BM66 (1050m)

#2 – Yasuke @ $7.50

Yasuke has a good fresh up record of two wins from five starts, and he could hit the ground running this Saturday.

The former Sydney-based runner has run well since coming to South Australia, and he could sneak under the radar with bookmakers.

The talent is there, so he goes in the mix.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (17:17) Sportsbet Durbridge Stakes (1100m)

#3 – Sghirripa @ $10.00

Sghirripa needs a confidence boost after not finding much at Caulfield last start, but getting back to Morphettville could do the trick.

The six-year-old son of Lonhro is a five-time winner from 12 starts at the track, and he has missed the money only three times here.

We’re keeping the faith with the talented sprinter.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 10. (18:00) Same Race Multi BM70 (1200m)

#7 – Thunder Shoc @ $4.80

Running well this time in is Thunder Shoc, who scored at Morphettville last time out before enjoying a month off.

The Clarken-trained mare owns four wins and four placings from 13 starts, including two wins at the track, so the form is on the board.

It’s not an easy field, but she has enough upside to win.

Stake: 1.5 Units
