Wanganui racing tips

Amazing Son is threatening to win a race after consecutive second placings at Hawera, and he’s a fitter runner now.
The Lisa Latta-trained son of Belardo was only a length behind the winner last start, and he should run well no matter what the conditions.
Take the $4.80 odds before money comes for him on race day.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Nightowl ran well for second on debut at Hawera, and the form out of that meeting could stack up well at this meeting.
The four-year-old was no match for the winner, but he’s in good hands, and he doesn’t need to improve too much to handle this field.
Money is likely to come for him during the week, so take the odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Looking to remain unbeaten is Sam’s Turn, who won by just under a length on a synthetic track on debut.
The four-year-old son of Turn Me Loose is bred to handle wet tracks, and we don’t think he’ll worry about racing on grass surfaces.
It’s an open field, so the $7 is a good price from bookmakers.
Stake: 1 Unit
Mary Shan has the class edge over this field, and she looked good when winning a recent trial at Taupo.
She might only be a two-time winner, but she has form behind Group 1 types, including El Vencedor and Orchestral, finishing second behind Orchestral at Ellerslie in January.
At the weights, this could be a soft kill for her, and the $3.70 odds are worth snapping up.

Riccarton racing tips
—
Lochmara Bay is nearing a win after three placings from seven starts, including a second placing at Riccarton Synthetic last start.
We’re unsure about her form in heavy conditions, but there are no superstars in this field, and she could take advantage.
Having Opie Bosson in the saddle adds to our confidence levels.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Looking to turn his form around is Eastandwest, who owns a win and a placing in heavy conditions.
The Pitman-trained son of Charm Spirit owns two wins from 12 starts after showing good promise early on, but that form could return.
The double-figure odds are worth including as a value bet.
Stake: 1 Unit
Cool Aza Rene is why Bosson went south to ride, and the Te Akau-raced filly could extend her winning record to five wins from six starts.
She had to dig deep to win at $1.50 odds last start, but she’s unbeaten in heavy conditions, and that was a good effort second-up.
$1.95 is where we priced her, so include her in NZ horse racing multi bets.
Stake: 4 Units
Third Decree owns good fresh up form, and she has every chance of scoring her 10th career win on Saturday.
The six-year-old mare by War Decree runs well at the track, and although 1000m is short of her best, the conditions make this effectively a 1200m race.
We’re happy with the each-way odds, so include her in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
