Elegant Explosive is nearing an overdue win after finishing second last time out at Ascot Park.
The four-year-old mare by Sweynesse is only a one-time winner throughout her career, but the elusive second win is coming.
It’s not a hard field, so take the each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Never Too Much has a good chance of making a winning debut and being from the Te Akau stable helps.
The two-year-old son of Rubick has been educated with four trials in the North Island, and getting Opie Bosson in the saddle helps.
His opening odds of $2.90 didn’t last long, so there is good market confidence.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Punters get value odds for Zahtar, who scored a good win at Riccarton two back before running fourth in heavy conditions last start.
The four-year-old mare is better with a little give in the surface, so the soft track conditions should be right up her alley.
Mereana Hudson is riding well, so take the current odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Seeking back-to-back wins is Who Rox the House, who was too good for them at Ascot Park last start.
The four-year-old mare by Vadamos won emphatically by seven lengths, so it was an impressive way to break maidens.
Dropping to 56kg helps, and she’s a good bet.
Stake: 2 Units

Solid Gold ran well in two races last preparation, including a third placing at Ellerslie last time out.
The three-year-old filly by Savabeel was only a half-length behind Swiss Prince and Navy Dreams, and that form has held up well since.
The $2.45 odds are likely to firm on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
We’re taking the value odds for He’s Divine, who has yet to win or place from seven starts, but a good run is coming.
The four-year-old son of Darci Brahma comes off a fourth at Taupo, and something close to that should be good enough.
1kg comes off to help with the big weight, so include him in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking for back-to-back wins is Burnerphone, who got the better of a tidy maiden field at Ellerslie.
The three-length win was the effort of a horse going places, and dropping to 53kg makes her awfully tough to bat on Saturday.
The $3.50 odds are worth including in horse racing picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Perfect Dividends owns three wins and five placings from 15 starts, including two second placings at Matamata.
He is a better chance than his each-way odds suggest, and we would have been happy with something around $4.
Include him in picks as a top three hope.
Stake: 1.5 Units
