Te Rapa racing tips
—
Money has come for Mr Marigold, who owns seven placings from 11 starts, including three consecutive placings this prep.
The four-year-old son of Spieth likes racing in heavy conditions with three second placings, so there is no reason to bet against him.
Take the $2.15 odds before more money comes for him.
Stake: 3 Units
Moneypenny was too good for them at Pukekohe in heavy conditions last start, which is an excellent form guide for BM65 racing.
The three-year-old filly won easily by four lengths as a $4.10 chance, so punters get similar odds for Saturday’s race.
We expect her to produce another top effort.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Fast Impact is getting close to posting a win after consecutive placings at Tauranga and Rotorua.
The three-year-old is having his 10th start, but that race experience shouldn’t count against him for this race. He is fit and ready to fire after four runs this prep.
Getting 4kg off his back helps, and Sam McNab is riding well.
Stake: 1 Unit
Ortega hasn’t been the easiest runner to follow throughout her career, but she showed good pace to win fresh up at Matamata.
Something close to that would be good enough to put this field away, and some of her best form has come on wet tracks.
Given the double-figure odds, we’re happy to include her in our New Zealand racing picks.

Otaki racing tips
—
Gunning for three consecutive wins is Vibration, who scored at Otaki before winning at Hawera last time out.
The three-year-old son of Proisir owns three wins from seven starts, and that’s a good enough record to handle this field.
$2.20 is getting short, but he could get the day off to a winning start for punters.
Stake: 2.5 Units
I Don’t hasn’t been too far away from the prize this campaign, including placing at New Plymouth in consecutive runs.
The well-bred mare by Savabeel gets all favours off an inside draw and with 3kg coming off, so this is her chance to shine.
Her odds have drifted, but we’re not concerned.
Stake: 2 Units
Seeking consecutive wins is Pride of Aspen, who got the job done at Otaki by 1.8 lengths in fine style.
The six-year-old mare by Pride of Dubai is a six-time winner overall, so her class should be enough to be competitive in this race.
She is a four-time winner at Otaki, so she goes into the mix.
Stake: 2 Units
Kereti wasn’t far away fresh up when running third at Awapuni and getting back on grass tracks shouldn’t do him any harm.
He won his only start on a soft surface, and although Otaki is currently rated heavy, it could firm up slightly on race day.
2kg comes off his back, which is enough to take him close.
