Te Rapa racing tips
—
Mr Fahrenheit went close to breaking through last time out when second at Te Rapa, and it’s about time he broke through.
He owns six placings from 20 starts over the jumps, so he’s long overdue, and this field is there for the taking in the opener.
Money has come for him, and that’s a good sign.

Looking to go one better than his last start is English Gambler, who turned his form around with a placing at Te Rapa.
He runs his best races at Te Rapa over the jumps, including 17 starts for four wins and three placings, which is a tidy record.
He’s not always an easy watch, but we’re happy to put him on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Looking to justify the short odds is Honey Badger, who won by 3.5 lengths last time out, which is a good form guide.
The three-year-old filly by El Roca has yet to win at Te Rapa, but it’s a track she should enjoy, and she loves racing in heavy conditions.
Barrier three is ideal and Michael McNab riding helps.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Al’s Red Zed is nearing another win over the jumps after posting placings at Wanganui and Trentham, and that form should hold up in the north.
The 10-year-old son of Zed relishes heavy tracks with three wins and three placings, so he won’t be worried by the extremely wet conditions.
Punters get each-way odds to snap up.

Otaki racing tips
—
O’Ceiren’s Belle ran well for third on debut at New Plymouth in heavy conditions, which is a good form guide for this race.
The Robbie Patterson stable is flying this season, and it should have a good winter to cap off the season before August rolls around.
We expect her to win soon, and this race is wide open.
Stake: 1.5 Units
We’re going with another Patterson-trained runner in Jaegar, who didn’t show much on debut, but he improved to run second last start.
The three-year-old son of Time Test handled the heavy track last start at New Plymouth, so he’ll get through the tough conditions.
Take the $3.10 before money comes for him.
Stake: 2 Units
Hey Hey Baby is a wet track specialist with 20 starts for four wins and five placings, and she could battle best against an even betting field.
The Ralph Manning-trained five-year-old gets 2kg off her back to help with the weight, and we priced her at around $4.
Take the value odds available.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Pride of Aspen looked good when running second last time out at Otaki in heavy conditions, and she’s a three-time winner at Otaki.
The track suits her running style, which is why she has been well-backed to score, and getting 2kg off her back is ideal.
She’s one of the better bets on the card.
