Money has come for Ronaldo to win after an excellent debut victory at New Plymouth, and he’s worth including in multi bets.
The two-year-old colt by Ribchester pulled out all the stops to score by a nose, and it was a tough effort, which is always good to see from a juvenile.
NZ’s best local rider is in the saddle, so include him in picks.

Punters get value odds for Oklahoma, who is fitter for three runs under her belt this preparation.
The Lisa Latta-trained filly finished third at Otaki two starts back, which is the best form guide for this race, and although she didn’t fire last start, 1400m caught her out.
She is worth backing at the current odds in what should be an even race.
Stake: 1 Unit
Teasing punters with another win is Only the Lonely, who has placed twice from three starts this preparation.
The four-year-old mare by Tivaci lost no admirers when running second at Wanganui last start, and she only went down by a narrow margin.
Barrier three is ideal, and this is her best chance to get back to her winning ways.

Looking to make a winning debut is Pippasjewel, who looked good when winning a recent trial.
The four-year-old mare is from the Latta stables, and they often get their debut runners off to a fast start, especially the older types.
Patience could pay off for connections, and punters should jump on the each-way odds.

The five-year-old mare is nearing her maiden win after posting three placings from four starts this preparation.
She comes off consecutive second placings, including one at Pukekohe last time out, which is always a good form guide.
Dropping to 53.5kg should be enough to take her close in the opener.
Stake: 1.5 Units
It was good seeing High Country back to his winning ways at Ellerslie, and that’s a good form guide for racing at Tauranga.
The Tony Pike-trained gelding is only a two-time winner, but he has raced against some nice types, and this level of racing suits.
Look for Joe Doyle to settle him handy and kick strongly in the straight.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get double-figure odds for I’ll Be Home Soon, who won at Tauranga earlier this preparation.
The Peter Lock-trained four-year-old then ran second at Trentham before taking on a tidy field at Pukekohe, and he should find this easier.
Matthew Cameron rides, which adds to our confidence.
Stake: 1 Unit
There are many win hopes in this race, and Romilly is one of them. She won well earlier this campaign at Ellerslie.
Having winning form at Ellerslie bodes well for racing at Tauranga, and although beaten in two runs since, she didn’t enjoy the conditions.
We’re taking the each-way odds available with bookmakers.
Stake: 1.5 Units
