Trentham racing tips
—
Punters get each-way odds in the opening race of the Group 1 card with Island Life, who won well here two starts back.
The four-year-old mare won in BM75 at Trentham before heading north and struggling, but this race should be right up her alley.
Getting the inside draw is crucial at this track, as the inside can be advantageous.

Young Jackson has been well-backed to score, which isn’t surprising following a fifth at Ellerslie against a much harder field.
The James/Wellwood-trained gelding hit the line well enough after getting back in the run, and he was only a half-length behind the winner.
It’s strong form, so include him in horse racing multi picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Capaci won well on debut at New Plymouth before taking on Group 3 company when running behind War Princess.
That form has been franked since, and having a spell under her belt should only help the three-year-old filly, who could come back stronger.
Craig Grylls takes the ride, and punters get a price worth taking from bookmakers.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Navy Dreams has faced tough opposition up north, including running fourth at Ellerslie behind That’s Gold, who was one of the favourites in the New Zealand Derby.
Second in that race was Road to Paris, who won the Derby, so the form stacks up, and we think he’s being overlooked in the market.
Punters get $6, and we priced him at $3.20, so take the value.

Te Aroha racing tips
—
Looking to cap off four consecutive placings to start his career is Deprive, who is fresh up after a three-month spell.
The three-year-old son of El Roca has experience at the track when running second three starts ago, and he added placings at Te Rapa and Ellerslie in subsequent runs.
The form is strong, and he could get off the mark on Saturday.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Altari showed good staying ability when winning fresh up at Pukekohe, and he wasn’t far away when third at Matamata last start.
The four-year-old son of Savabeel ran a length behind the winner, and he’s good enough to turn the tables on Saturday.
Any moisture in the surface helps him, so we’re confident of a tidy effort.
Stake: 1 Unit
Emma Twigg pounced late to score at Te Aroha on debut, and the second horse has since won comfortably at Hawera on Wednesday.
The Te Akau-raced filly is named after a speedster on the water, and her namesake could win more gold medals on the track.
Getting in with 53kg makes her a serious winning hope.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Both of Hankee Alpha’s wins have come at Te Aroha, and getting back to this track could be enough to see her winning form return.
The four-year-old mare owns two wins from two starts here, and her recent efforts have come against strong fields, so this could be slightly easier.
Dropping to 53kg makes her an excellent bet.
Stake: 3 Units
