We have expert betting tips for the New Zealand racing cards this Saturday at Te Rapa and Riccarton.
There is always great value at the NZ horse racing meetings, and we have our best bets across the two cards.
Te Rapa racing tips
—
Astoria Brooke doesn’t have ideal fresh up form, but she’s good enough to beat this field on Saturday in ideal conditions.
The four-year-old mare ended her last preparation with consecutive wins, and she won her only start Te Rapa, which bodes well.
Barrier four is ideal, so include her at each-way odds.

Punters get value odds for Tisse, who comes from the Central Districts with consistent form.
The Allan Sharrock-trained gelding ran second at this track two back before running fourth at New Plymouth last start.
It’s solid enough form to give this even betting field a run for its money.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Renovations is paying better odds than we expected after showing improvement form last season.
The four-year-old mare owns two wins and six placings, including a good win at Wanganui two back followed by a placing at Te Rapa behind Acapelago.
Matthew Cameron is riding well, so snap up the $12 odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Transcend comes off a tidy maiden win at Ruakaka, where she won by just under a length as the betting favourite.
The three-year-old daughter of So You Think will only appreciate more time and distance, so we’re backing her confidently on Saturday.
Getting in with 54kg makes her tough to hold out.

Riccarton racing tips
—
Miss Ziggy has been threatening to win a race for some time now, and she gets an ideal chance in the opening race.
The Andrew Carston-trained filly owns five placings from nine starts, and she has run behind some smart types in the south.
We expect her odds to continue to shorten throughout the week.
Stake: 2 Units
Quisiera has been right around the mark this preparation with three consecutive second placings, so she deserves a win.
She was the beaten $1.50 favourite last time out, so punters will need to dig deep to back her again, but she’s worth following until she wins.
Getting the inside draw with a light weight do her chances some help.
Stake: 1 Unit
Fourofus might be a maiden runner taking on race winners, but the three-year-old has been threatening to break through.
He comes off three consecutive second placings, including a second at Wingatui as a $1.50 favourite last time out.
Dropping to 53kg is ideal, and he’s sneaking under the radar.
Stake: 1 Unit
There isn’t much value with the current favourite, so we’re backing fellow debutante Luminosity at a better price.
The two-year-old filly by Too Darn Hot is bred for speed, and she comes off a second placing at the Riccarton trials.
The favourites could fight it out, so we’re happy to take the bigger odds.
Stake: 2 Units
