Pakenham racing tips

Race 1. (16:45) Frankston Sand Soil & Mini Mix Maiden (1100m)

#8 – Elsa of Arendelle @ $3.00

Elsa of Arendelle did well when running third on debut at The Valley before finishing seventh at Flemington.

The three-year-old filly by Frosted comes off a trial win at Caulfield, which holds her in good stead against this opposition.

Getting in with 55kg should make her tough to beat.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (17:15) Tassie Fine Foods Maiden (1400m)

#6 – Pleasing Smile @ $2.25

Money has come for Pleasing Smile, who looks to make a winning debut for the Hayes stable.

The three-year-old son of Peltzer ran sixth in a trial at Caulfield before running well at the jumpouts, hence the betting move.

Barrier three is ideal, so include him in picks.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (17:45) Shanks Electrical Maiden (1400m)

#7 – Setheus @ $2.90

Setheus has been threatening to win a race this preparation with three placings, and this race is an open contest.

The four-year-old son of Super Seth owns four placings overall, and his second placing at Sale is a good form guide.

Take the $2.90 and include him in horse racing multis.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (18:15) Duffy & Simon Lawyers Maiden (2200m)

#7 – Pride of Pariah @ $7.50

Value is with Pride of Pariah, who wasn’t too far away when running fourth at Pakenham last time out.

The six-year-old son of Pariah owns four placings overall, including two placings at Pakenham, so the form is solid enough.

It’s not an overly good field, so look for him to take advantage.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (18:45) Grant's Plumbing & Drainage Solutions BM64 (1400m)

#8 – Jackie’s Maid @ $6.50

Jackie’s Maid hasn’t been far off the mark this campaign with three placings from four starts, including a placing at Ballarat last start.

The Mitchell Freedman-trained mare is better than a one-race winner, so it’s only a matter of time before she wins again.

The odds make her a worthwhile bet.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (19:15) Welcome Ladbrokes to Southside BM64 (1600m)

#5 – Both Sides Now @ $2.60

Both Sides Now owns two wins and two placings from seven starts, and she is good enough to put this field away on Friday.

The five-year-old mare by Puissance de Lune gets every chance from an inside draw, and we’re not worried by the drifting odds.

She’s worth including in horse racing multi bets.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (19:45) Trailtrekker Floats Synthetic Series BM78 (1200m)

#9 – Naval Academy @ $6.00

Naval Academy comes off a much-improved run for second at Moonee Valley, which is a good form guide for this race.

The five-year-old son of Justify owns three wins from 10 starts, so his strike rate is good, and there isn’t too much depth in this field.

Barrier 13 isn’t easy, but he goes close with luck.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (20:15) Sheen Pakenham Ned’s Last Hurrah BM70 (2200m)

#2 – Saveadateforme @ $3.10

Boasting five wins and 12 placings from 34 starts is Saveadateforme, who loves running at Pakenham with two wins and five placings.

The six-year-old gelding is a good statistical bet, and jumping from barrier three should give him every chance in the run.

His odds are shortening, so take the current price.

Stake: 2 Units
