Pakenham Synthetic racing tips

Race 1. (14:00) Community Bank Drouin & District Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Above Me @ $4.40

Above Me hasn’t been far away from the prize in two runs, including a third placing on debut at Seymour.

The four-year-old mare by Zoustar didn’t enjoy the heavy conditions last start, but this should be a more suitable track on Monday.

The each-way odds are worth snapping up, so include in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (14:30) Betavet Maiden (1200m)

#6 – Good Onya Darl @ $7.50

Nearing a win is Good Onya Darl, who capped off solid form with a second placing at Bairnsdale last time out.

The four-year-old daughter of Magnus should be fitter now, and although she’s not the best-bred runner in the field, she shouldn’t take long to win.

Getting the inside draw with 2kg off her back adds to her winning hopes.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (15:00) Computer Talk Business IT Experts Maiden (1600m)

#7 – Wondering Spirit @ $5.50

Each-way odds are with Wondering Spirit, who opened his account this preparation with a second placing at Cranbourne.

The son of Ribchester should only be better with that run under his belt, and he has been close to breaking through after posting three placings from five starts.

There is a short-priced favourite in the race, but he’s good enough to win.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (15:30) Superior Food Services BM58 (1600m)

#10 – Stella Cantante @ $11.00

Looking to get back to winning form is Stella Cantante, who won at Pakenham Synthetic three starts back.

The four-year-old mare by Star Witness hasn’t offered much in two runs since, but being a past winner here is form worth considering.

Dropping to 55kg helps, so include her for value.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (16:00) Waterline Riding Academy BM58 (1400m)

#3 – Little Bighorn @ $5.50

Little Bighorn looked good when winning here fresh up, and anything close to that run is good enough for this race.

He wasn’t far off them when finishing second at Bairnsdale behind Sea Poem, and we expect that form to stack up nicely for this race.

Barrier two is ideal, so take the each-way odds available.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (16:30) Mitavite Athlete Plus BM58 (1200m)

#3 – Rebels @ $4.00

Rebels runs his best races fresh up, including a win at Cranbourne last preparation, so that form is ideal.

The four-year-old son of Zousain has been running well at the jumpouts, so he looks ready to go, and that’s reflected in betting markets.

He only needs luck from out wide to figure in the finish.

Stake: 1 Unit
