Port Macquarie racing tips

Race 1. (13:50) Port City Bowling Club Maiden (1200m)

#6 – Wan Lost @ $3.30

Wan Lost started his career with consecutive placings before running fifth at Rosehill behind Hay Street.

The four-year-old son of Zoustar should appreciate being back at the provincials after placings at Port Macquarie and Gosford, which is more suitable racing.

He won’t take long to win, so the $3.30 odds are attractive.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (14:25) John Oxley Motors Maiden (1200m)

#3 – Magic Socks @ $12.00

Punters get value double-figure odds for Magic Socks, who comes off two placings at Coffs Harbour.

The four-year-old mare by Rothesay gets a valuable 3kg off her back for this run, and that should be enough to take her close.

We expect a good run, so take the value odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (15:00) Flower Hotels Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Alby’s Mate @ $2.30

Money has come for Alby’s Mate, who looks to cap off three consecutive placings with a win.

The four-year-old son of Vancouver owns four placings from eight starts overall, and after opening at $2.60, he has been specked to win.

We’re happy to include him in our horse racing multi bets.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (15:35) De Bortoli Wines BM58 (1800m)

#5 – Charmed Destiny @ $8.00

Charmed Destiny turned his form around with a third placing at Taree, and that could give him enough confidence to kick on with it.

The seven-year-old has plenty of experience, including five wins and 14 placings, and there isn’t much to beat in this field.

He’s a two-time winner at Port Macquarie, which is a bonus.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (16:10) Win Network C2 (1500m)

#2 – Piccaderro @ $2.20

Piccaderro is already a two-time winner this preparation, and he has a good chance of winning again.

The four-year-old son of Pierro owns two wins and five placings overall, and it won’t take him long to win another win, especially with the inside draw.

The $2.20 is likely to firm to around $1.80 at start time.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 6. (16:50) Carlton Dry BM58 (1000m)

#8 – Prince Rupert @ $8.50

Punters get value odds for Prince Rupert, who runs his best races at Port Macquarie with five starts for a win and a placing.

The four-year-old son of Winning Rupert needed the spell after running fifth at Taree, and he should come back in better order.

We’re happy to include him in picks at the price.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (17:30) Panthers Port Macquarie BM58 (1200m)

#3 – Savvyrocker @ $4.20

Punters get each-way odds for Savvyrocker, who is never too far away from the prize.

The four-year-old mare by Shamus Award owns three wins and six placings, including two wins at Port Macquarie.

That’s good enough form to include her in picks at a nice price.

Stake: 1.5 Units
