Randwick racing tips

Race 1. (11:20) Keeneland Yearling Sale Handicap (1100m)

#7 – Nazwah @ $2.00

Nazwah couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when scoring by 3.3 lengths at Gosford, and she was eased on the line.

The well-bred two-year-old filly by Capitalist is a half-sister to Charm Stone, so she’s expected to have a good career.

We’re not surprised by the $2 odds, which have shortened.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (11:55) Midway BM72 (1600m)

#9 – Callistemon @ $4.20

We were worried about Callistemon getting into traffic problems last start and that came to fruition. However, she’s a smart mare that’s worth sticking with.

The four-year-old won impressively two back when settling much closer in the run, and that’s the key to her success.

Punters should snap up the each-way odds.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (12:30) Highway Handicap C3 (1800m)

#6 – In Summer @ $2.70

Money is with In Summer, who owns three wins and four placings from eight starts, which is a terrific record.

The four-year-old mare by The Autumn Sun comes off a tidy third placing at Randwick, and she’s good enough to improve on that run.

Getting the inside draw is ideal, so she’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (13:05) The Agency Real Estate BM72 (1300m)

#6 – Glorious Moments @ $4.40

Glorious Moments turned his form around when winning at Canterbury last time out, which should be a tidy form guide for this race.

The three-year-old son of Brutal won by two lengths in fine fashion, and he looks good enough to beat this level of opposition.

He has been backed at each-way odds, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (13:40) Mostyn Copper BM88 (1600m)

#9 – Aberlour @ $5.50

Aberlour turned her form around with a win at Randwick when scoring at $14, and punters get value odds for this run.

The Joe Pride-trained mare is a dangerous proposition down in the weights, and that’s her biggest asset for Saturday’s race.

It’s an open field, so backing the short-priced favourite isn’t ideal.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (14:15) Tab BM78 (1800m)

#8 – Piggyback @ $5.50

Piggyback looked good when winning fresh up at Warwick Farm, and she hasn’t been too far away from the prize in three subsequent runs.

The Ciaron Maher-trained mare owns four wins overall, so she knows how to score, and this race is there for the taking.

Punters get each-way odds to include in picks for the value runner.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (14:50) Marcellin College Randwick BM78 (1300m)

#4 – Sacred Rocks @ $2.40

Sacred Rocks is a model of consistency after posting three wins and three second placings from six starts.

The four-year-old daughter of Sacred Falls has had two runs in Sydney for a win and placing, and she only needs cover from the wide draw to go close.

Getting 2kg off her back is ideal, so she goes in multi bets.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (15:30) ATC Thank You Trainers BM88 (1100m)

#13 – Tarpaulin @ $4.40

Godolphin could end their partnership with James Cummings with a win on Saturday, and Tarpaulin gives them a good chance.

The three-year-old gelding finished fourth at Rosehill last time out before being given a trial to prepare for this race.

Getting in with 52.5kg makes him tough to hold out against this field.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 9. (16:10) ATC Thank You Owners BM72 (1100m)

#5 – Livin’ Thing @ $8.00

Punters get value odds for Livin’ Thing, who is already a two-time winner this preparation, including a win three back at Randwick.

Having winning form this prep is ideal, and although he graduates to a tough class, he is good enough to handle it.

Barrier two is ideal, so there are many positives.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 10. (16:45) ATC Thank You Stable Staff BM78 (1800m)

#6 – Puntin @ $2.90

Puntin is a great runner to follow, having posted four wins and three second placings from seven starts, so include him in picks again.

The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding was a touch unlucky not to win last time out behind Oh Diamond Lil, and he ideally wants to find the front.

Look for him to settle close to the pace and kick gamely.

Stake: 2.5 Units
