Alphard finished fourth on debut at Canterbury, and although this race isn’t easier, he looks to have good promise.
The two-year-old son of Street Boss should only strengthen with a run under his belt, and improved track conditions would go a long way.
Getting the inside draw doesn’t hurt his chances.

Looking to cap off solid form is Harry’s Bar, who ran third at Rosehill before finishing well enough for fourth at Canterbury last start.
The Paul Murray-trained mare is only a one-time winner from nine starts, but it’s only a matter of time before she wins again.
It’s good to see money come for her, so take the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Class is with Highway Strip, who owns two wins and three placings from five starts, and he could build on that effort.
The Danny Williams-trained gelding lost no admirers when placing behind Clear Thinking last start, which is an excellent form guide.
Getting 2kg off his back is enough to take him close.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Maori Chief didn’t have all favours late in the race at Rosehill, and we’re surprised that he’s paying double-figure odds.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding was a short margin behind Puntin, who has since run well, and that form checks out well for this race.
Getting 2kg off his back is enough to take him close, so jump on the odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Spywire has form around some smart types throughout his career, including Storm Boy, who has since gone to Coolmore in Europe.
The Ciaron Maher-trained three-year-old went close at Rosehill behind King’s Secret, and that’s a good form guide for this race.
He has yet to run worse than second here, and his form should make punters confident of a win.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get each-way odds for Dollar Magic, who didn’t fire at Rosehill last start, but her form prior was good enough.
The six-year-old daughter of Shamus Award owns four wins and 17 placings from 27 starts, including six placings at Rosehill.
Carrying 60kg isn’t easy, but she has class on her side.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking for back-to-back wins is Good Banter, who scored a tough win at Rosehill last time out.
The four-year-old mare by Tavistock had been threatening to win races, and winter racing could be more her go.
Dropping to 56kg is ideal, and it could give Anna Roper another win on the card.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Boasting excellent form this preparation is Storm the Ramparts, who owns three wins and two second placings from five starts this prep.
It’s tough to look away from that form, and the four-year-old son of Headwater will love being down in the weights at 54kg.
We’re happy to stick with him at the generous odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Getting down in the weights should help Thunderlips, who won back-to-back races before finishing fourth last time out.
The four-year-old son of Zoustar is a six-time winner from 20 starts and getting down in the weights at 53.5kg is a steal.
Based on the weights, we can’t leave him out.
Stake: 2 Units
Looking to improve on a fresh up fourth is Bunker Hut, who has solid second-up form, so he’s worth including in picks.
The five-year-old son of Savabeel owns four wins and 13 placings, so he’s never too far away from the prize at this level.
It’s good to see money come his way, so include him in picks to close the card.
