Sandown racing tips
Race 1. (13:00) Jockey Watch Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Sanbina @ $5.00
Sanbina is on debut for the Hayes stable, and she could make a winning start on Monday.
The three-year-old filly by Puissance de Lune comes off consecutive jumpout wins at Flemington, so the form reads well.
Punters get each-way odds on the opener.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:35) MRC Foundation Gala Maiden (1400m)
#9 – Taken @ $2.35
Taken has been threatening to win a race after posting five placings from five starts.
The three-year-old gelding by Ardrossan opened his campaign with a third at Pakenham, and he doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field.
He should find cover from out wide in a smaller field than originally advertised.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (14:10) Fast Form BM70 (1400m)
#5 – Zourain @ $9.00
Zourain wasn’t all that far away fresh up when fifth, and the three-year-old should improve on that effort.
The son of Zousain looked good when winning at The Valley last preparation, so something like that is good enough.
Getting the inside draw adds to our confidence.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (14:45) Lockettled BM70 (3000m)
#4 – Turn It Up Tommy @ $7.00
Turn It Up Tommy is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Warrnambool over 2200m.
Rising to 3000m won’t worry him in the slightest, and he’s good enough to run well at value odds for punters.
It’s an even staying contest, so take the current odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:20) Sportsbet Feed BM64 (2400m)
#3 – Sea Strike @ $6.50
Seastrike has been in good form this season, including wins at Benalla and Albury this preparation.
The four-year-old meets a deeper field on Monday, but the son of Sea the Stars is bred to win staying races, so we’re backing him.
Getting $6.50 is a good price, and he could shorten late.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (15:55) Ive BM70 (1200m)
#2 – Written Bligh @ $3.50
Money has come for Written Bligh, who was good enough to score consecutive wins at Mornington and Sandown earlier this prep.
Her form since hasn’t been flash, but that came at Flemington behind the likes of Pivot City and A Little Deep, which are tough types.
Getting 3kg off her back is a bonus, so put her on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:30) Senet Gambling Law Experts BM64 (1200m)
#8 – La Casona @ $9.50
Punters get value odds for La Casona, who ran fourth fresh up at Ballarat, and she’s a past second-up winner.
The four-year-old mare by Snitzel owns two wins and two placings from nine starts, and although she meets a tough field, she has ability.
We’re happy to take the risk at the current price.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (17:05) More Places BM70 (1600m)
#7 – Liberami @ $2.80
Liberami has been threatening to win a race after three consecutive placings at Sandown and Bendigo, and the money has come for her.
She opened at $6.50 before being hammered in the market, and with two placings from two starts at Sandown, she looks ready to win.
Include her in multis to end the day.
Stake: 2 Units
