Sandown racing tips

Race 1. (13:10) Jockey Watch Maiden (1500m)

#6 – Matsuda @ $4.50

The three-year-old gelding should have finished closer on debut when getting checked, so running second was a good effort.

He ran second behind Trapdoor, who wasn’t able to win last week at Sandown, but it should be a solid enough form guide for this race.

Take the each-way odds before more money comes for him.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:45) Lockettled BM66 (2400m)

#7 – Saxon Beauty @ $13.00

Running at generous odds is Saxon Beauty, who owns two wins from her last four starts, which is a solid enough record.

The five-year-old mare by Saxon Warrior is meeting a tricky midweek field, but with only 55.5kg on her back, she has a chance to win.

Take the $13 odds available as a value price.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:20) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM64 (1300m)

#1 – Humble Trader @ $3.70

Looking to stay unbeaten is Humble Trader, who scored by just under a length on debut at Sandown.

Having winning experience at the track is ideal, and although that came at Lakeside, there isn’t much difference to the circuit.

He’s rock-solid in markets, which is another good sign.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:55) Sportsbet Blackbook BM66 (1000m)

#2 – Boonie @ $10.00

Better for two runs back from a spell is Boonie, who didn’t fire at Flemington or The Valley, but this is much easier.

The seven-year-old son of Brazen Beau is a three-time winner overall, but he has threatened to win many more races.

His form last prep was excellent, so include based on that.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (15:30) Quayclean BM70 (1000m)

#13 – Visual @ $3.60

Visual looks to remain unbeaten after winning on debut at Hawkesbury for James Cummings.

The four-year-old mare by I Am Invincible showed good pace to win by over a length, and that form is good enough for racing in Victoria.

We expect money to come for her on race day, so take the value.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (16:05) More Places BM66 (1400m)

#12 – Stay Silent @ $8.50

Running at value odds is Stay Silent, who ran well to win at Geelong before finishing second and fourth in two runs at Sandown.

The four-year-old son of Deep Field didn’t have all favours last time out, so that was a forgive run, and he’s worth including in picks.

Take the generous $8.50 offering from bookmakers.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (16:40) Tile Importer BM70 (1500m)

#15 – Damehood @ $4.80

Seeking back-to-back wins is Damehood, who dug deep to score at Sandown, which is a good form guide for this race.

The four-year-old mare took her time getting back to winning form, but the penny might have dropped now, so she’s worth following.

Having Blake Shinn in the saddle only helps her chances of winning.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (17:15) Race Replays BM70 (1300m)

#17 – Silver Magnate @ $2.70

Silver Magnate is unbeaten after picking up wins at Pakenham and Sandown, so we’re happy to include him in our horse racing picks.

The five-year-old showed a good turn-of-foot to return a winner after a year off the track, which is an excellent sign of things to come.

Take the $2.70 odds before he keeps firming.

Stake: 3 Units
