Scone horse racing tips

Race 1. (13:25) Yarraman Park Maiden (1300m)

#4 – Toranaga @ $4.00

On debut is Toranaga, who ran second in a trial at Scone, and having experience on the track could set it apart.

The three-year-old son of Maurice opened at $5 before being specked in betting markets, and that’s always a good sign for a debut runner.

Ashley Morgan is riding well, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (14:05) Vinery Stud C1 (1400m)

#2 – Smart Buy @ $3.20

Smart Buy was an impressive winner at Scone last start when beating a handy maiden field, and that form should stack up nicely.

She faces more depth in this field, but the Rodney Northam-trained mare appears to have more upside than most in this race.

Take the $3.20 odds before she firms on race day.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 3. (14:40) Mitty's Maiden (1100m)

#6 – Autumn King @ $2.50

It’s tough to overlook a well-backed runner from this stable, especially one bringing in unbeaten trial form.

The three-year-old colt by The Autumn Sun is bred to be better than average, and this stable knows how to get them ready on debut.

The $2.50 odds could shorten to around $1.60, so lock in the price.

Stake: 3.5 Units

Race 4. (15:20) Colourworks Maiden (1100m)

#8 – Miss Fleetwood @ $5.50

Looking to improve on two moderate efforts is Miss Fleetwood, and it’s good to see money come for her.

The Michael Freedman-trained filly is bred to be handy, and we’re prepared to give her another chance based on that alone.

Include her in horse racing picks for value.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (15:55) Scone RSL BM58 (1000m)

#9 – Social Circle @ $1.70

Looking to justify the short odds is Social Circle, who couldn’t have been more impressive when winning by four lengths on debut.

The three-year-old filly paid $1.35 on that occasion, so getting $1.70 is a good price, and she’s likely to boost horse racing multis.

Barrier 12 isn’t ideal, but natural ability should see her win.

Stake: 4 Units

Race 6. (16:35) Select Events BM66 (1600m)

#1 – Dale @ $3.70

Dale is good enough to beat this field after posting three wins and three placings from nine starts.

There are some smart types in this field, and he carries 62kg, but he could settle midfield and come with a big late run.

His turn-of-foot will win him more races at the midweek meetings.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (17:10) Inglis C3 (1200m)

#10 – Fetes Des Meres @ $9.00

Fetes Des Meres runs at value odds, and we’re happy to include the four-year-old in our picks.

The daughter of Brazen Beau is a three-time winner from 10 starts, and jockey Siena Grima is riding well this year, so that’s a positive.

The $9 is a good price, so include her in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit
