Seymour racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:30) Haeusler’s Maiden (2200m)
#5 – Dharam Shalaa @ $2.05
Dharam Shalaa didn’t fire at Caulfield last start, but racing midweek at Seymour is a much easier task.
The Dan O’Sullivan-trained gelding owns three placings from eight starts, including placings at Ballarat and Bendigo this campaign.
He runs at short odds, but he’s worth including in multis.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 2. (14:00) Choices Flooring Seymour & Euroa Maiden (1600m)
#9 – Tassron @ $4.60
On debut for Chris Waller is Tassron, who prepared with a moderate trial at Rosehill before coming to Melbourne and running well in a jumpout.
His Flemington jumpout performance is a good enough sign to include the son of Tassort in picks, and punters get each-way odds.
We expect him to figure in the finish in an even race.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (14:30) Fowles Wines Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Smarticon @ $3.10
Smarticon showed improvement when running third at Geelong, which should be the best form guide for this race.
The three-year-old son of Smart Missile was only a short margin behind the winner, and natural improvement should take him close.
He only needs some cover from the draw to finish best down the outside.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 4. (15:00) United Insurance Group Maiden (1000m)
#6 – Bazaball Rewarded @ $3.90
Bazaball Rewarded finished fifth at Ballarat last start, but it’s fair to say she should have won the race.
She was trapped along the inside of runners and she was cruising, so that’s a good sign for future racing, especially at this level.
We thought she would be shorter than $3.90, but after opening at $6, strong bets have come her way.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 5. (15:30) Bet365 BM64 (1000m)
#4 – Under My Thumb @ $1.75
Under My Thumb is gunning for three consecutive wins and we can’t see her being tested by this field.
The Hayes-trained mare owns two wins and four placings from six starts, and her wins at Cranbourne and Yarra Valley were full of class.
Include her in multis at the current odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 6. (16:00) Ray White Seymour BM64 (1200m)
#5 – Posh I’m Not @ $6.00
Posh I’m Not isn’t always the most consistent type going around, but he’s good enough to handle this field.
The lightly raced eight-year-old won at Wangaratta earlier this preparation before placing at Pakenham last start, which is nice form.
Barrier two is ideal and punters get generous odds from bookmakers.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (16:30) Beer Auto C1 (1400m)
#9 – Albanian Star @ $5.50
Money has come for Albanian Star, who opened at $9.50 before firming into $5.50, despite there being a $1.65 favourite in the race.
The Reece Goodwin-trained mare won well fresh up before placing at Ballarat last start, where she hit the line strongly late.
Carrying 54kg could be enough to see her run well.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (17:00) GD & SL O’Sullivan Builders BM64 (1600m)
#2 – Half Yours @ $1.70
We’re not surprised by the odds for Half Yours, who was only a nose behind the winner at Sandown last time out.
That came against a stronger field, and with two wins and two placings to his name, he should account for this field without much fuss.
His opening $2.15 quote didn’t last long, so include him in multi bets.
Stake: 3.5 Units
