Seymour racing tips
—
Chergui has form in some tough races, including running second at The Valley last start and third at Caulfield behind subsequent stakes winner McGaw.
That form is excellent for a Sunday race at Seymour, and we expect big bets to come his way. He has enough experience to handle this field.
Look for a betting push, but don’t wait too long for the odds to drop.
Stake: 3.5 Units
The four-year-old showed enough form last preparation to suggest that he could win fresh up on Sunday.
He placed at Wangaratta and Kyneton before running sixth at Moonee Valley, but he found that race too strong for his liking.
This is more suitable, so include him in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
It was good to see Zeaction back to solid form last time out when running second at Benalla, and that’s a tidy enough form guide.
The six-year-old son of Zacinto will need a touch of early luck from the draw, but he has time to find cover over the mile.
Punters usually get each-way odds, and this should be no different.
Stake: 1 Unit
Black Peppermint doesn’t mind a run under his belt, so punters should expect an improved performance from the lightly tried seven-year-old.
The son of Americain has yet to finish worse than second from two starts over 2000m, and that’s his best asset.
He maps well, so punters should include him in horse racing picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Keepsake took punters money fresh up when running fourth at $2, but we were happy with her effort considering the run in transit.
She overdid it on the pace, and she could be better with a sit. We expect those tactics on Sunday, and she could bounce back in fine style.
The ability is there, so back her with confidence.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Seeking consecutive wins is Kokado, who has yet to finish worse than second in four career starts, including two wins.
The five-year-old mare by Swiss Ace was too good for them at Bendigo last time out when beating Regal Tycoon, and the form has stacked up.
Barrier six is ideal, and she should get a lovely trip in transit.
Stake: 2 Units
Prinzerro didn’t fire fresh up at Flemington, but the significant drop in class is enough to see him form turn around.
The five-year-old son of Pierro is much better than a two-time winner, but he also owns nine placings, and many of those came in harder races.
He should be right in the mix against this field.
Stake: 2 Units
Hard to Cross comes off a solid seventh at Sandown behind some decent types, and the Seymour Cup is there for the taking.
The six-year-old son of All Too Hard gets every chance at the weights with 54.5kg, and that could be enough to see him win.
He rarely runs a bad race, so we’re happy to have him.
Stake: 1 Unit
Lovelycut has been threatening to win another race after looking good early, and she comes off a fifth at Caulfield behind Miraval Rose.
That form is excellent for racing at Seymour, and she could sneak under the radar with bookmakers. We’re hoping for something around $4, which is a price worth taking.
She only needs luck from out wide to go close.
Stake: 2 Units
