Sistema Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Justin Case ($3.90)
Shooting for three consecutive wins is Justin Case, who won his last two at Matamata.
He won the most recent by 5.8 lengths at Group 3 level, and although there were only three others runners, he put them away with ease.
He should be right around the mark in the Group 1.
(2) Harvey Wallbanger (Best Each Way – $8.50)
Harvey Wallbanger has been expensive for runners in his last three runs, but at $8.50, he can’t be left out of Sistema Stakes picks.
He’s a lovely animal, and he’s still trying to figure out the racing game. However, not much has gone his way so far, and that could change at Ellerslie.
Look for him to settle back from the draw and find the line with purpose.
(3) Out of the Blue ($17.00)
No match for Justin Case at Matamata, but the meeting was dominated by horses on the speed.
Despite having Opie Bosson riding, he needs to find 3-4 lengths to have any chance of beating this field.
(4) State of Valour ($11.00)
He’s yet to win after three attempts, and despite posting consecutive second placings, he needs something much easier than this.
(5) Lara Antipova (Best Bet – $1.75)
The gun filly in the field after three consecutive wins to start her career. She has looked electric in posting wins at Te Rapa, Trentham, and Matamata.
She has yet to be tested, with her worst win coming by 3.3 lengths in heavy conditions. Her debut win came by eight lengths, and she has untapped ability.
$1.75 is short for a 2YO, but she could give them windburn.
(6) Liguria ($17.00)
She was a strong winner when beating Harvey Wallbanger on the line last start, so we can’t leave her out of our picks.
The well-bred daughter of Snitzel could be the forgotten runner at odds, and if she has strengthened up from that effort, she could run in the money.
(7) Lassified ($26.00)
It hasn’t been a consistent start to her career, despite winning twice. This could be a step up too far.
(8) Te Encuentro (Best Roughie – $13.00)
A booming winner on debut at Ellerslie before chasing gamely behind Lady Antipova last time out.
That’s a good form guide for this race, and because she owns a nice turn-of-foot, we’re including her in picks at double-figure odds.
(9) Parfait Dimanche ($35.00)
Yet to win from four attempts, and it could pay to wait for something easier before backing her.
(10) Sweetest Thing ($51.00)
Back-to-back placings in easier company, so she should tackle maiden grades first.
(11) Bella Bonita ($101.00)
Yet to show much in two runs, and anything better than last would be an achievement.
