Steward’s Cup Form Guide & Tips
(1) Romantic Warrior (Best Bet – $1.35)
He’s a champion, and although $1.35 is short, it’s better than we expected. We priced him at $1.15 to beat this field, and he should score another comfortable victory.
There are some smart types, namely Voyage Bubble, but he has his measure, so include him in Hong Kong racing multis.
(2) Voyage Bubble (Best Each Way – $4.60)
The Hong Kong Mile winner, and he’s arguably better suited to the 1600m than Romantic Warrior. We’re not sure if he’s good enough to beat him, but he could go close.
Punters get each-way odds, and he’s the clear second pick.
(3) Lucky Sweynesse ($81.00)
His last two starts have been solid enough, but he’s not close to his best. We see him struggling to keep up with the top two picks, but a first four spot could be on the cards.
$81 is a fair price, and $6.50 to place is generous.
(4) Beauty Joy ($151.00)
Long odds available for a struggling runner. This isn’t the race to see his best form return.
(5) Red Lion ($26.00)
Third in the Hong Kong Mile, which was an impressive return to form. That should give him confidence, and we’re happy to include him in first four picks.
He gets all favours off the inside draw as well, which adds to his appeal.
(6) Galaxy Patch (Best Roughie – $13.00)
Won well two back before finishing fifth, but he’s better than his most recent effort, so stick with him.
There has been solid betting support for him at double-figure odds, and that’s a good sign.
(7) Straight Arron ($101.00)
Not running well, hence the long odds. We can’t see him improving enough to worry them.
(8) My Wish ($9.00)
He kicked off this prep with consecutive wins. His last two starts were just fair, but there is plenty of hype around this runner.
Based on that, we’re happy to include him in picks. His odds could shorten on race day, so take the opening price.
(9) Sunlight Power ($41.00)
He hasn’t shown much consistency throughout his career, and we can’t see him threatening.
