The Galaxy Form Guide & Tips
(1) Briasa (Best Bet – $6.00)
The class runner of the field, and he hasn’t been treated kindly in the barrier draw, he can overcome it with a good beginning.
Look for him to settle handy to the pace, and with eight wins from 14 starts for over $4.3 million, he’s the one they need to beat.
Include him in picks at value each-way odds.
(2) Mazu ($17.00)
He enjoyed the track conditions last start when running third behind Generosity. He could find this tougher at the weights this time around.
(3) Generosity ($16.00)
Scored an overdue win last time out, but a wide barrier draw won’t help his chances. We fail to see where James McDonald can put him in the run that will benefit him.
(4) Hedged ($13.00)
An often-overlooked runner in Group 1 races, but his recent form is good enough to include at double-figure odds.
Drawn to get a soft run close to the speed, and he could enjoy running at Rosehill for the first time.
(5) Reserve Bank ($9.50)
He ended last campaign with three consecutive wins. The $9.50 is shorter than what we priced him at, but there is good market confidence.
He’s a Group 1 winner, so we’re respecting him and including him in first four picks.
(6) Jedibeel ($23.00)
A tough runner to follow at the best of times. He will likely need to drop back from the wide draw, and he could have too much to do.
(7) In Flight ($61.00)
Only fair fresh up when seventh, and the odds are accurate. She should struggle to pick them up at this level.
(8) Marhoona ($15.00)
Won at this meeting last year when taking out the Golden Slipper. A lovely run for second last start, and that form should hold up well.
Getting 52kg is ideal, and she could be a rare Slipper winner to kick on with it.
(9) Ostraka ($27.00)
We’re not thrilled by his form last preparation, and we had him at $41.
(10) Bridal Waltz ($20.00)
Six wins from 15 starts, so there is nothing wrong with her form. Is she a potential Galaxy winner? We think she could struggle to show a turn-of-foot at this level.
(11) The Black Cloud ($46.00)
Good to see her get back to winning form earlier this preparation, but she’s unlikely to taste success at the top level.
(12) Enriched (Best Roughie – $15.00)
Second behind Autumn Glow last preparation, and he finished ahead of Gangsta Granny. Lovely form, and with 51kg on his back, he can’t be overlooked.
We’re happy with the $15 odds for an underrated type.
(13) Infancy ($126.00)
Big odds are rightfully so. It would be a massive shock.
(14) Grafterburners (Best Each Way – $4.80)
The current favourite after scoring four on the bounce in Queensland. This is the big time now but getting in with 50.5kg doesn’t hurt.
The colt has a nice future, and although the odds are a touch short for our liking, he still represents each-way value, and the odds could drift on race day.
(15) Catch the Glory ($81.00)
Barrier 18 isn’t ideal, and she should struggle at Group 1 level.
(16) Beadman ($14.00)
Nothing wrong with his win last time out when beating Inkaruna, despite Inkaruna being unlucky not to win.
He’s a nice type in the making, so he can’t be ruled out.
(17) Inkaruna ($9.50)
She needs a scratching to get into the field, but if she gets a run, she is a solid win hope. Her second placing behind Beadman was an excellent run, and 50kg is ideal.
Craig Williams is booked to ride two runners, so it will be interesting to see who rides her if she gets in.
(18) Hidden Motive ($27.00)
A solid resuming run for third, but $27 is too short for our liking.
