Thousand Guineas Form Guide & Tips
(1) Apocalyptic (Best Bet – $2.00)
Getting $2 for Apocalyptic is good shopping, and she has already shown her ability in Sydney. She comes off three consecutive victories, and she could rise to the Group 1 level of this race.
We love her action, and getting barrier four should ensure she gets every chance in the run. That’s why she’s a $2 chance, and those odds could firm to $1.60 on race day.
We recommend taking the early odds.
(2) Ferivia ($14.00)
Her win last start was a tough effort, beating Ole Dancer. She is rock-hard fit after posting three wins during her first prep, and we’re happy to include her in picks.
The odds are better than expected, and it could be a tactical affair, which would help her chances of winning.
(3) Ole Dancer ($6.00)
The form out of the Sandown race should hold up nicely, and money has come for her to beat the favourite.
She signalled her intentions early with two wins, and although she hasn’t won at her last two starts, this has always been her target.
We can’t leave her out of our picks.
(4) Getta Good Feeling (Best Each Way – $12.00)
Getta Good Feeling wore down Just a Journey last start, and that form is going under the radar for this race.
We believe she is a nice staying filly in the making, and a win in the Thousand Guineas wouldn’t surprise us one bit. Therefore, take the $12 odds with bookmakers.
(5) Zany Girl ($34.00)
She won well fresh up, but she needs to find a few lengths on her recent form. Group 1 racing could be too hard for her.
(6) Salty Pearl ($20.00)
Salty Pearl enters calculations following placings at The Valley and Sandown. She was a narrow margin behind Ferivia and Ole Dancer, which is a good form guide outside the Sydney form.
Given the odds, she could boost payouts.
(7) Steel Trap ($31.00)
She comes off a win, and the McEvoy stable knows how to train three-year-olds. However, this is a big rise in class, and she needs luck from out wide.
We’re happy to back her in something easier than the Thousand Guineas.
(8) Cherish Me ($31.00)
Not always the most consistent type. A winner two back but followed it up with nothing last time out. Shouldn’t be threatening them.
(9) Ethereum Girl ($23.00)
Already a two-time winner this preparation, but we get the feeling she’ll be better with another campaign under her belt.
She could be a nice autumn type.
(10) Karinska (Best Roughie – $12.00)
Chris Waller could work his magic with Karinska, who chased gamely behind the Thousand Guineas favourite last start.
That’s the best form guide for this race, and although she might not turn the tables, she could run a place. $12 is a fair price, and $2.80 to place is good value.
(11) Chateau Eze ($16.00)
She has made a nice start to her career, but this race might have come too soon. Could pay to watch for late betting moves.
(12) Mating Call ($15.00)
Third behind Getta Good Feeling last start. Not a bad form guide, but there are too many unknowns about her.
