Vinery Stud Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Ohope Wins ($3.10)
An absolute star, and we wouldn’t be shocked if she won. However, the $3.10 odds are too short, and they’re far too short to label her as the best each-way.
Dropping from the Oaks distance of 2400m to 2000m won’t help, and although she won over 2000m easily three starts ago, her fellow Kiwi could be more suited to this race.
She is a strong quinella chance, and she could win her first race under Chris Waller’s care.
(2) Belle Cheval (Best Bet – $3.60)
Another Kiwi runner with a massive future. She pushed Well Written to a nose in the NZB Kiwi, and she was storming home.
The daughter of Savabeel looks every part a middle-distance Group 1 winner in the waiting, and this is an ideal target.
She will sit off the pace, like Ohope Wins, and we believe she has a better 200m sprint, which could be enough to win.
(3) Salty Pearl (Best Each Way – $3.60)
Clearly the best of the Australians after a dominant win last time out. We are big fans of her, and although the Kiwis have the edge, she is good enough to cause a minor upset.
Stretching out to 2000m won’t worry her one bit, and her best chance could come by sitting closer to the pace and giving the Kiwis something to chase.
Her turn-of-foot isn’t as impressive as Belle Cheval and Ohope Wins, so it will be a tactically run Vinery Stud Stakes.
(4) Panova ($5.50)
She won well nicely on debut before being safely held in two runs since. The $5.50 odds are too short for our liking, but she is good enough to run in the first four.
We believe the first three in the market are 3-4 lengths better than the rest, but Panova finishing in the money wouldn’t be a surprise if she has found improvement.
(5) After Summer ($46.00)
Yet to win from three starts and we can’t see that changing on Saturday. She has upside but look for her to win at Group 3 level before backing her at the top level.
(6) Long Legs (Best Roughie – $17.00)
Fourth at Kembla Grange at Group 3 level last start. We’re not including her in our trifecta picks, but at $17, she is a solid chance of grabbing the fourth spot.
There isn’t much value with betting markets, so she could boost payouts at double-figure odds.
(7) Aisle Two ($35.00)
Fifth in the same race as Long Legs. She owns a win at Rosehill, which helps, but we don’t think she’s up to this level yet.
She could be a runner worth following in the spring.
(8) Celestial Award ($126.00)
Narrowly broke maidens at Geelong last time out. It’s not uncommon for a runner to go from maiden grades to Group 1 as a 3YO, but this might be a step too far, hence the odds.
(9) Stand My Ground ($126.00)
Another last-start maiden winner. It was an easy win, but she could be beaten on the turn.
