Super Rugby Pacific Round 5 Tips

Friday 13/3/26
The Hurricanes showed their best ability last week when winning 59-19 against the Waratahs, and they’re ready for another big effort.
We have backed the Force a couple of times this season for mixed results, but after losing 39-31 to the Highlanders last week, we’re not surprised to see the –21.5 line for the Hurricanes, who play their home game in Napier.
Conditions should be ideal for running rugby, which helps the ‘Canes.

The Fijian Drua had a bye last week, which came following a Week 3 win over the Hurricanes in rough conditions.
Scoring a win over the Hurricanes is excellent form, and although they were favoured by the wet conditions, both teams had to play in the slop.
The Brumbies lost to the Reds last week, and now having to play in Fiji could make it tough to bounce back. Therefore, we’re taking the $2.42 odds for another home upset at the hands of the Drua.

The Highlanders have already beaten the Crusaders this season, and with the Crusaders coming off a 29-13 loss to the Blues, not all is well with the most successful franchise in history.
There was also a punch-up at training during the week, which the coach played off as a good thing, but that’s not what we wanted to see. That’s why we’re backing the Highlanders to keep it close and cover the +9.5 spread.
They come off a tidy win over the Force, so the number is generous from bookmakers.

The Reds took a big step last week when beating the previously unbeaten Brumbies, and they should use that momentum to hand the Waratahs another loss.
One of the most disappointing teams last week was the Waratahs, who were hammered in every aspect by the Hurricanes. It was a bad performance to the eye, and it doesn’t bode well for the rest of the year.
Playing at Suncorp helps the Reds, and although covering a –7.5 spread can prove difficult, if the Reds start well, the ‘Tahs could be in give-up mode.

The Blues are a team that can pile on the points quickly, and Moana Pasifika could be in for another long afternoon.
Moana comes off a 57-24 loss to the Chiefs, which was a one-sided affair, and the Blues defeated the Crusaders by 16 points, so there is a clear class advantage between them.
Bookmakers have the line at 27.5, which is massive, but this game could get out of hand quickly for the visitors, who tend to get blown out more often than not.
