Despite losing to Geelong last week, we thought Collingwood played well. The 90-87 loss dented their confidence levels a touch, but the Magpies are playing with much more confidence than Fremantle, which lost 94-33 to St Kilda.

There is some trepidation with Collingwood with betting markets, which is surprising. We expected them to be around $1.34 with head-to-head lines, and they are 2-0-1 against Fremantle from their last three meetings.

Last year’s game ended with a 75-75 draw, but this game is Collingwood’s to lose, and it should have the clear class advantage. Covering the –9.5 line shouldn’t prove too difficult for a team occupying a top two spot on the AFL ladder.

Mihocek had another big game last week with four goals, and he was one of the best players on the field. It was his 10^th goal in his last four games, and punters get $1.64 for the Collingwood forward to score 2 or more goals on Thursday.

Amiss didn’t go amiss last week when scoring twice against St Kilda. He scored 12 of Fremantle’s dismal 33 points, and punters get value odds of $1.96 for him to score 2+ goals. He’s a player worth following over the next few weeks.

Over 160 is also worth including in Fremantle vs. Collingwood picks. They scored 150 points last year, but that followed a total of 180 points in 2023. We expect something like that in Round 9, and the line is lower than expected.

We’re going to put our chips in the basket of Mihocek. He was terrific last week, and we think Fremantle’s defence is there for the taking.

We would have been prepared to take around $2.60, so $3 is a value price.
