Sydney vs. Port Adelaide Predictions
—
Best Bet
Port Adelaide +14.5 @ $1.90
It was hard not to be impressive by the performance of Port Adelaide against Hawthorn last week. The 121-91 upset victory was the first for Hawthorn, and although the Power had home field advantage, the win could spur them on.
They suffered defeats to St Kilda and Essendon prior to the win, but the Swans haven’t been playing overly great. They lost to Collingwood last week, which followed a win over North Melbourne, and that’s not a tough game.
Getting a +14.5 start is tough to overlook, and although they lost 95-59 in the finals last year, that followed a 148-36 smashing in August. Port is a team that can pile on the points, and it should be a close contest on Sunday.
Same Game Multi
Port Adelaide +14.5, Mitch Georgiades 2+ Goals, Willie Rioli 2+ Goals, Total Match Points Under 173.5 @ $9.25
Mitch Georgiades has been the most consistent player for Port Adelaide, having scored 12 goals in his last four games. He scored three against Hawthorn last week, and if he can score on the Hawks, he can score on the Swans.
The $1.43 odds are short for Georgiades to score 2+ goals, but that’s the beauty of AFL same game multis. You can add short odds to boost payouts, and punters get much better odds for Willie Rioli to also score two goals.
Rioli is a $2.18 chance to score a brace, and after kicking three last week, he has every chance of kicking on with it.
Under 173.5 points is a logical bet based on history between Sydney and Port Adelaide. The game is often low-scoring, and 173.5 points is a better line than we expected.
Best Value Bet
Port Adelaide Wire-to-Wire @ $5.00
We fancy Port Adelaide scoring an upset win, but we’re not happy with just the $2.76 available with head-to-head markets, we want more. The Power can get off to a fast start and never look back, and given the $5 odds from bookmakers, that’s tough to turn down.
Look for Rioli, Georgiades, and potentially Sam Powell-Pepper to get the Power off to a fast start, and their defence should limit Sydney to low score throughout the game.
