Stars vs. Strikers Predictions
—
Best Bet
The Stars were outstanding when beating the Renegades in the Melbourne Derby last week, and that form stacks up nicely against a Strikers team coming off two losses.
When the Strikers are losing, they don’t look good. They struggle to build momentum at any stage of the game, and with the Stars team packed with experienced and quality talent, it could be too much of an ask for the visitors.
We’re not surprised to see the Stars open as short favourites. The $1.67 odds are warranted given the Stars early form this season, and with the win over the Renegades coming easily, they could kick on with it as the BBL finals approach.

Marcus Stoinis didn’t bat against the Renegades, so he’ll be fresh and ready to produce the goods. He has been a solid bet throughout the season, scoring recent totals of 43 and 33 runs, so take him over 19.5 runs.
Matt Short scored 52 runs for the Strikers in defeat last week. It was a good effort, but we expect the Strikers opening batsman to struggle against an impressive Stars bowling attack, and he could suffer at the hands of Haris Rauf.
Rauf pays short odds to take 2+ wickets, following a good run of form. He took two wickets against the Renegades, making it nine wickets from his last five games. He’s bowling well, and he could tear through the Strikers’ opening order.

Best Value Bet
Punters get $13 for Rauf to win Player of the Match, so he’s going in our Big Bash picks. He is bowling better than most, and if he takes a couple of wickets, he could get the nod.
It’s all about timing when it comes to giving bowlers Player of the Match honours. If Rauf gets the top order out, or a key batsman at the right time, he could sway selectors in his favour.
