CJ Cup Byron Nelson Tips & Predictions
—
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Best Bet – Scottie Scheffler
If Scheffler can’t beat this field, which would be his first PGA Tour win since June, then we can’t back him for the foreseeable future.
It sounds like we’re being harsh on the American, especially as he won Olympic gold and the TOUR Championship since June, but we’re just stating facts. He has also never won a major outside of Augusta, so there is pressure on him to perform.
It’s why he’s playing this week, which is a non-signature event, because he wants to get back to winning form. The $3.75 odds are skinny, but Scheffler should win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson if he’s anywhere near his best.
Bet: Scottie Scheffer @ $3.75
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Best Value – Sam Burns
Sam Burns has been threatening to win a tournament in 2025, and the 28-year-old could pose a threat to Scheffler.
He finished T13 at the RBC Heritage behind Justin Thomas, and he played well enough to make the cut at The Masters, which is a good performance. He had missed three consecutive cuts prior to that effort, so it’s a step in the right direction.
Burns is a five-time PGA Tour winner, including the Charles Schwab Challenge when beating Scheffler in a playoff, so that bodes well at $31.
Bet: Sam Burns @ $31.00
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Next Best – Will Zalatoris
We often feel sorry for Will Zalatoris. He had the golfing world at his feet, but his wild swing took its toll on his back.
He has come back from surgery with some solid performances, and although he’s not close to his best form that he showed a couple of years ago, he is still good enough to post a solid finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
He finished T12 at the American Express, which is a signature event, and he also finished T30 at The Players and T22 at the Arnold Palmer. His best form comes in big tournaments, which is encouraging as a $46 chance.
Bet: Will Zalatoris @ $46.00
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Top 10 – Jake Knapp
Jake Knapp is a PGA Tour winner, and he has one of the best swings, so we’re happy to include him in our picks.
He should have taken benefit from playing the Zurich Classic last week, and although Knapp and his partner came awfully close without winning, Knapp didn’t really do much wrong. He could be had a more accomplished partner, but he could score a solo win this week.
He’s a $6 chance to post a top 10 finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and those odds are better than we expected. Look for him to make a good start and hold on gamely for a top 10 finish.
Bet: Jake Knapp @ $6
