John Deere Classic Tips & Predictions

Best Bet

Ben Griffin @ $15.00

We’re not shocked to see Ben Griffin topping the odds at $15. He’s having an excellent year, and he has been around the top of the leaderboard against much stronger fields.

Considering Denny McCarthy is on the second line of betting at $26, the John Deere Classic is up for grabs, and with the way Griffin is playing, it’s his tournament for the taking.

Griffin finished T13 last week at the Rocket Classic, which followed a T10 at the U.S. Open and T14 at the Travelers Championship. He won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and the Zurich Classic earlier this year in the pairs event.

Take the $15 odds as a value price, especially on a course that should suit his eye.

Next Best

Jake Knapp @ $36.00

Jake Knapp will rue his missed chances last week when missing out on a playoff spot by one shot. However, if his short game is slightly better, he could have won by a few shots.

He’s one of the more talented ball strikers on the PGA Tour, and although his emergence came later in his 20s, he could make up for lost time over the coming months.

The John Deere Classic is the ideal opportunity for Knapp to win another tournament, and bookmakers haven’t adjusted their odds. Getting $36 is a lovely price with golf odds.

Best Value Bet

Tom Kim @ $71.00

It wasn’t long ago when Tom Kim was the future of the PGA Tour, becoming one of the youngest players to ever win on the Tour. However, his stocks have decreased over the last year.

We’re not sure why he’s not playing at the same level which saw him play in the President’s Cup, but we’re hoping he figures it out this week.

He’s still a young player, and he has three PGA Tour wins on his record. The class is there, and given the $71 odds, we’re not leaving him out.

Best Roughie

Eric Cole @ $81.00

Eric Cole won PGA Tour Rookie of the Year as a 35-year-old, despite having never won a tournament on the Tour.

He had a consistent season in 2022-23, including a playoff loss to Chris Kirk in the 2023 Honda Classic. That showed that he’s good enough to compete with some of the best players in the world, and this tournament should be right up his alley.

He’s an $81 chance for a reason, and his recent form is moderate, but things can turn around quickly in golf.

Top 20

Thirston Lawrence @ $4.00

We have been impressed by the recent form of Thirston Lawrence, who played well at the Rocket Classic last week, and he could double down on that effort.

The South African could be inspired by his countryman Aldrich Potgieter, who won the Rocket Classic in a playoff, and it could spark a resurgence in South African golf.

Getting $4 is a good price for a player with his promise.
