Valero Texas Open Tips & Predictions

Valero Texas Open Best Bet – Tommy Fleetwood

Alright Tommy, it’s about time you won a PGA Tour event. Fleetwood has been close to winning, but he can’t quite seem to get it done.

However, he’s still a classy player, and as the majors start to roll around, that’s when the British golfer starts to play his best.

He finished T16 at the Valspar Championship behind Viktor Hovland and T14 at The Players, so he’s right around the mark and finishing just behind the best players in the world.

There is a lot of respect for him in betting markets at $16, which is a fair price. We’re backing him this week and at Augusta, but we don’t chase him for much longer after that.

Bet: Tommy Fleetwood @ $16.00

Valero Texas Open Best Value – Patrick Cantlay

Another player overdue a win is Patrick Cantlay, who finished T12 at the Players, and it was a step in the right direction.

The former FedEx Cup champion is having a down year, but it all started when he was accused of slow play. It might have knocked his confidence, but he’s one of the steadier players on the PGA Tour, and a win isn’t far away.

Despite all eight of his PGA Tour wins coming in June or later in the year, he’s desperate to show something early, and we’re happy to take the $20 with golf betting markets.

Bet: Patrick Cantlay @ $20.00

Valero Texas Open Next Best – Akshay Bhatia

Akshay Bhatia went desperately close to winning the Players. He led in the final round but hit a couple of poor shots, which ultimately cost him a chance at victory. However, we love the way he battled back to stay in contention.

The 23-year-old is still so young, and he has plenty of wins on the horizon. The former amateur champion has more confidence than most, and he’s the current Valero Texas Open champion, having won in a playoff last year over Denny McCarthy.

Take the $25 odds for Bhatia and have a nibble at the $2.20 for a top 20 finish.

Bet: Akshay Bhatia @ $25.00

Valero Texas Open Top 20 – Denny McCarthy

One of the best putters on the PGA Tour is Denny McCarthy, and he finished second in a playoff to Bhatia last year at the Texas Open.

That was a tournament he threw away over the final holes, so he’ll be wanting redemption. McCarthy might not be the best ball striker on tour, but he’s an excellent putter, and that was put to good use in 2024.

We’re happy to include him in top 20 bets at $2.37, which is worth including in golf multis.

Bet: Denny McCarthy @ $2.37
