Coolmore Classic Form Guide & Tips
(1) Amelia’s Jewel (Best Each Way – $6.00)
Amelia’s Jewel got back to her best with a tough win at Randwick, which should be a good form guide for the Coolmore Classic.
She’s the best-performed runner in the field and punters get value odds for the top weight.
(2) Olentia ($23.00)
She hasn’t been too far away from the prize this preparation, but we don’t think she’s up to this level at the moment.
We are happy to see her run and see what she produces for next time.
(3) Alsephina ($23.00)
We expected more from her last time out, but she didn’t get all favours in the run to the line.
It was a better effort than it looked, so at $23, we’re including her in first-four picks to boost payouts.
(4) Lady Shenandoah (Best Bet – $2.40)
She is the rising star at Group 1 level after posting four consecutive wins, including a gutsy win over Lady of Camelot last time out.
The three-year-old daughter of Snitzel is the most promising type in the race and she will settle back and come with a big run.
Having James McDonald riding adds to her appeal.
(5) Marble Arch ($12.00)
The five-year-old has turned her form around nicely this season, scoring by two lengths at Flemington last time out.
As the betting suggests, she can’t be left out of selections, and she won’t mind a bit of moisture in the surface.
(6) Lady of Camelot ($7.00)
Winning races hasn’t come easy for the former Golden Slipper winner, but he has been pushed Lady Shenandoah to her limits recently.
She’ll head forward from barrier 14 and we expect her to be right around the mark again.
(7) Coeur Volante ($9.50)
Money has come for the four-year-old daughter of Proisir, who won by four lengths at Caulfield last time out. However, she will need to be good to beat this field.
We think the Sydney-based runners are going better and we’re not thrilled by the odds, but she’s a first four play.
(8) Grinzinger Belle ($23.00)
She wasn’t all that far away when fourth fresh up at Caulfield but improvement is needed on that run.
It’s her first start at Rosehill and we don’t expect her to be near the mark.
(9) Firestorm ($41.00)
She’s unbeaten in three starts at Rosehill, including last time out against a solid field, but it wasn’t a Group 1 field.
Barrier 15 isn’t ideal and we would prefer to back her in something much easier.
(10) Manaal ($23.00)
There was nothing wrong with her two-year-old form but she hasn’t quite gone to the next level this time around.
She ran fifth behind Lady Shenandoah last start and we can’t see her finding four lengths on that effort.
(11) Sounds of Heaven ($71.00)
A nice enough type on her day but at much lower levels. A finish in the first half of the field would be surprising.
(12) Electtrica ($51.00)
She comes off a win at Sunshine Coast and connections are having a stab at Group 1 racing, but she will be struggling a long way from home.
(13) Scarlet Oak (Best Roughie – $27.00)
We’re including Scarlet Oak in our picks at nice odds. She ran well for third last start and having that run under her belt helps.
Money has come for her and she could battle on gamely for a top three finish.
(14) Our Gold Hope ($101.00)
Big odds for a mare with little chance of winning.
