Cootamundra racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:35) Cootamundra Ex-Services C1 (1600m)
#1 – Besson @ $3.10
Besson comes off a win and the four-year-old is good enough to win again.
The son of Aylmerton is only a one-time winner from 11 starts, but after breaking through at Leeton, he’s good enough to kick on with it.
Take the top weight in the opener.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (14:10) South West Slopes Veterinary Maiden (1400m)
#6 – K’gari @ $4.00
K’gari looks to cap off consecutive second placings with a win, and those placings came at Goulburn.
That form looks good for this level of racing, and it’s only a matter of time before the five-year-old mare scores her maiden win.
Take the each-way odds before they firm on race day.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 3. (14:45) Australian Meat Group Maiden (1100m)
#9 – Christmas Star @ $4.80
Christmas Star owns two placings from four starts, including a placing at Moruya two back, which is tidy form.
The three-year-old filly by Star Turn doesn’t have to improve too much to beat this field, and punters get better odds than expected.
Carrying 55kg makes her tough to beat.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (15:20) Central Hotel Anderson Memorial BM66 (1100m)
#4 – Flycatcher @ $4.40
Flycatcher won on debut at Bendigo before racing at Sandown and Randwick, so the form checks out at this level of racing.
The five-year-old ran third at Leeton fresh up, which was only a fair effort, but he might have needed the fitness.
Take the odds before more money comes for him.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 5. (15:55) South West Slopes Bank BM58 (1400m)
#3 – Hurricane Ablowing @ $6.00
Hurricane Ablowing won well three back at Canberra before battling a touch in two subsequent runs, but we’re happy to stick with him.
The five-year-old son of Panzer Division is a two-time winner from 12 starts overall, and this isn’t an overly tough field to beat.
Barrier two is ideal, and the odds are generous.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (16:35) Wyong Leagues C1 (1200m)
#3 – Ellessthree @ $4.20
Ellessthree showed good pace in three starts last campaign, including a win at Wodonga and a placing on debut at Albury.
The four-year-old mare by Grunt comes off some soft trial performances, and that should have her ready to fire for this race.
Barrier two is ideal and the each-way odds are worth including in picks.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (17:10) Twin Hills Cootamundra Cup (1600m)
#8 – County Kilkenny @ $3.70
County Kilkenny is a four-time winner from 15 starts, and he has enough class to beat this field in the feature race.
The five-year-old son of Fast Company gets in with a luxury weight of 55kg, and that’s a great weight for a runner of his promise.
He’s a good bet at the current odds.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 8. (17:45) Heritage Motel BM58 (1200m)
#7 – Xceptional Fella @ $3.90
Xceptional Fella won well on debut at Canberra before placing lats time out, which is good form for this race.
The three-year-old gelding by Xtravagant was only a length behind the winner last time out, and a repeat of that effort should take it close.
Watch for any late betting moves.
Stake: 1.5 Units
