Cranbourne racing tips

Race 1. (17:15) Ladbrokes Owners Bonus Maiden (2080m)

#6 – Scorpion @ $3.10

Scorpion is getting close to posting a win after finishing second at Sale, and that form should hold up well at Cranbourne.

The three-year-old son of So You Think is bred to enjoy this distance, and he has time to find cover from out wide.

Take the $3.10 odds before money comes for him late.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (17:45) Magic Millions National Sale Maiden (1400m)

#5 – Zamparini Spirit @ $6.50

Punters should expect improvement from Zamparini Spirit, who ran fifth fresh up at Geelong.

The three-year-old son of Fiorente is bred to enjoy longer distances, and he didn’t get all favours last time out.

The each-way odds are worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (18:15) Sandown Lodge Maiden (1000m)

#6 – Silent Shares @ $2.80

Silent Shares ran third on debut at Moe before spelling, and that race should be a good form guide.

The three-year-old daughter of Overshare opened at $4 before firming into $2.80, which is a sizable move for the favourite.

Based on that, we’re happy to put her on top in this race.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (18:45) Core Protective Group BM64 (1000m)

#6 – Express Yo’self @ $3.40

Express Yo’self ran well enough for third fresh up at Pakenham, and she will only be better for the performance.

The three-year-old owns a win and four placings from 10 starts, and although this isn’t an easy field, she’s good enough to win.

Having Jamie Mott riding helps, and he’s an aggressive and strong rider.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (19:15) R&C Asphalt Maiden (1200m)

#3 – El Fortress @ $5.50

El Fortress should be fit after two runs this preparation, and he could take advantage of an even betting field.

The three-year-old son of Tassort has yet to win from six starts, but he has been close with two second placings, which bodes well.

Barrier five is ideal, so he’s worth backing.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (19:45) Cookers Bulk Oil System BM64 (1200m)

#2 – Impish Lady @ $2.70

Impish Lady is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Geelong and Ballarat, so she has strong winning claims.

The Gavin Bedggood-trained mare pulled out all the stops when winning at $1.85 odds last start, so $2.70 is a fair price from bookies.

1.5kg comes off her back, which could be enough to see her win again.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (20:15) Ladbrokes Sky Heights Stayers Final (2080m)

#1 – Blushing Tycoon @ $7.50

Blushing Tycoon doesn’t win often but he was too good for them at Caulfield last start.

The six-year-old owns four wins from 40 starts, including a win and placing from three attempts at Cranbourne, so he loves the track.

Getting $7.50 is an excellent price from bookmakers, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 8. (20:45) Bridgestone Select Cranbourne C1 (1300m)

#1 – Santa Ana Moon @ $3.20

Santa Ana Moon won well fresh up at Sandown before not enjoying the wet conditions at Warrnambool last time out.

The three-year-old son of Puissance de Lune is good enough to bounce back to winning form, and he’ll appreciate conditions on Friday night.

We don’t think carrying 60kg will stop him against this field.

Stake: 2 Units
