Horsham racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:30) O’Connors Horsham Maiden (2100m)
#4 – Ribble Valley @ $6.50
The favourite is paying $1.45, but there is much better value with Ribble Valley, who has been right around the mark this season.
She ran third at Mornington two starts ago before running fourth at Moe, and there was more depth to those fields.
Harry Coffey rides and punters should snap up the value.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (14:00) Vale Tom Burdett BM58 (2100m)
#6 – Early Warning @ $2.60
Early Warning comes off an overdue win and the penny might have dropped for the daughter of Toronado.
She owns only two wins from 20 starts, but with 12 placings, she has been right around the mark throughout her career.
Any easing of the surface helps, so punters should be confident.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 3. (14:30) Bet365 Maiden Plate (1100m)
#3 – City United @ $1.80
City United has been confidently backed into an odds-on quote following three consecutive placings.
The three-year-old son of Unite and Conquer ran third at Morphettville two back, which is the best guide for racing at this level.
We expect him to break through against a moderate maiden field.
Stake: 5 Units
Race 4. (15:00) Elders Horsham Maiden (1400m)
#6 – Hamner Springs @ $2.20
Hamner Springs ran seventh on debut at Murray Bridge but it wasn’t the worst first-up run.
The Michael Hickmott-trained three-year-old was only 3.6 lengths behind the winner and it’s good to see plenty of betting support for him.
Based on his breeding, it shouldn’t take him long to get off the mark.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 5. (15:30) Traction AG Maiden (1800m)
#13 – Rose Diamond @ $2.20
Money is with Rose Diamond, who has been threatening to win after posting three placings from four starts.
The Hayes-trained three-year-old ran third at Bendigo on debut before running 2.6 lengths behind the winner at Caulfield. She then followed it up with placings at Cranbourne, so the form stacks up well.
We’re happy with the $2.20 offered by bookmakers.
Stake: 5 Units
Race 6. (16:00) Manhari Metals BM58 (1800m)
#1 – Desert Anthem @ $4.80
Punters get value odds for Desert Anthem, who finished third at Flemington last time out behind quality types in Navy King and Saban.
He has yet to fire fresh up, but kicking off over 1800m is ideal and we think he’s going under the radar against BM58 grade having placed in open company.
We priced him around $3.20, so jump on the current odds.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Race 7. (16:30) Happy 40th Sulic BM64 (1400m)
#1 – Oak Park Rebel @ $2.70
Looking to bounce back from running seventh at Sandown is Oak Park Rebel, who looked much better when winning in this grade at Murray Bridge in January.
The six-year-old son of Rebel Raider owns two wins and two second placings from six starts, so he should be tough to beat at this level.
Money has come for him and it’s likely to keep coming.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 8. (17:00) CHS Group BM64 (1100m)
#1 – Sign From Above @ $7.00
Sign From Above is better for two runs this preparation, including a fourth at Cranbourne behind American Liaison.
The five-year-old son of Divine Prophet needs to carry 60kg to victory, but he showed enough early in his career to suggest that he can.
Take the value odds available with bookmakers.
Stake: 2.5 Units
