Geelong racing tips

Race 1. (12:45) Ladbrokes Form Genius Maiden (1200m)

#6 – Lapland @ $3.80

Looking to cap off consecutive placings is Lapland, who ran second at Moe before finishing second at Geelong.

The three-year-old gelding by Anders was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner, so a repeat of that effort could be enough to beat this field.

Money has come for him, which is a good sign.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:20) Viatek Fujifilm Maiden (1200m)

#14 – Tears are Flowing @ $4.00

Coming off a jumpout win is Tears Are Flowing, who could make a winning debut for Symon Wilde.

The four-year-old mare by Epaulette gets the services of Damian Lane in the saddle, and that should be enough to take her close.

Punters get each-way odds, so include her in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (13:55) Roderick Insurance Brokers Maiden (1500m)

#3 – Hot Too Go @ $4.20

Betting on Hot Too Go comes with some frustration, but we’re happy to give him another go at the odds.

We’re hoping the now four-year-old has matured from a spell, and with experience in stakes company, he should be right in the finish in maiden fields.

His odds have drifted, but he’s good enough to take this out.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:30) Bennett Racing Maiden (2400m)

#8 – Ocean Symphony @ $6.50

Looking to run well at nice odds is Ocean Symphony, who ran second at Warrnambool two back before finishing fifth last time out.

The four-year-old son of Ocean Park didn’t appreciate the very heavy conditions, so racing on a firmer surface is ideal.

Take the odds before more money comes for him late in the piece.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (15:05) TMC Industries BM58 (2400m)

#8 – Thundering Falcon @ $7.50

Thundering Falcon is better for two runs this preparation, including a solid sixth last time out at Sale.

The four-year-old gelding by Fiorente showed good form last preparation when winning at Moe, and something close to that is good enough.

Barrier four is ideal, so he should be tough to beat.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:40) Connecttel Handicap (1700m)

#12 – Navy Nina @ $1.65

Navy Nina was far too good for them at Geelong when breaking maidens, and she should be tough to beat again.

The four-year-old mare by Proisir runs at very short odds, but she’s worth including in horse racing multi bets.

Barrier three with Jamie Melham in the saddle adds to her chances.

Stake: 4 Units

Race 7. (16:20) Rex Gorell Volkswagen C1 (1300m)

#8 – Sea Poem @ $9.00

Sea Poem is better for two runs back from a spell, including a fifth at Bairnsdale, and that form is solid enough for this race.

The Hayes-trained four-year-old showed better form during her first prep when winning at Geelong and placing at Seymour.

Her best form is enough to take out this contest.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (17:00) Formatozyrg Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Bossy Star @ $4.20

Matt Laurie lines up Bossy Star, who won at Sale three back before scoring consecutive third placings at Sale and Geelong.

The five-year-old son of Street Boss has been out of the money only twice from 11 starts, and his best form comes on soft tracks.

The each-way odds are good enough to include in picks.

Stake: 2 Units
