Race starts in 2d 22h One of the biggest races this Saturday at Randwick is the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes. It has attracted only six runners, but that’s because Autumn Glow is in action, and she has scared off the competitors. However, it’s a red-hot field, including Pride of Jenni and Ceolwulf, so it’s going to be a cracking contest over 1609m.

King Charles III Stakes Runner-By-Runner Guide
1. Ceolwulf (Best Each Way) @ $3.70

He’s getting close to posting a Group 1 win this preparation after running third behind Autumn Glow two back before running second in the Epsom Handicap.
He had to carry a big weight in the Epsom, and considering God’s Window also carries 59kg here, Ceolwulf is ideally weighted.
We’re not sure if he can beat Autumn Glow, but he’s a fit runner, and the betting support is justified.
2. God’s Window @ $31.00

A brilliant winner of the Epsom, but he’s going to get a reality check here. He rises from 50kg to 59kg, and there is more class in this field.
We can’t see him winning this race purely based on the weights, and his turn-of-foot will be tapered by the big weight.
3. Just Folk @ $61.00

He doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and that has been evident this prep. However, those placings didn’t come at this level, so he’s likely to struggle.
There are a few other runners in this race who we’d prefer to back, so leave him out of King Charles III Stakes predictions.
4. Militarize (Best Roughie) @ $61.00

We backed Militarize last week when running sixth, but it wasn’t a bad run without much luck in the straight.
He’s becoming an expensive horse to follow, but at $61, we’re prepared to have a nibble on him and include him in exotics.
Zac Purton takes the ride, and the small field will take bad luck out of the equation.
5. Autumn Glow (Best Bet) @ $1.40

The best horse in Australia. She has 13 wins from 14 starts, and after Sheza Alibi’s defeat last week, we think she deserves that title.
They were there to beat her last time out, but her class shone through late, and she should continue her winning run this preparation.
The 1600m is her max, so it’s a good distance, and she should justify the odds-on quote. We expect her to run through multi bets with Ka Ying Rising in The Everest.
6. Pride of Jenni @ $5.50

She is always an interesting runner. Punters should expect her to get a handy lead, and she always takes some running down.
If James McDonald doesn’t get on his bike early enough, she could pinch it. However, holding them off could prove too tough, and we have her running third behind the two favourites.
