Memsie Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Mr Brightside ($7.00)
Mr Brightside didn’t fire in Hong Kong last start, but he’s good enough to bounce back at value odds.
After opening at $6, his odds have drifted, but we’re happy to include him in our first four picks considering he’s a six-time winner at Caulfield.
(2) Tom Kitten ($8.00)
It’s tough to rule out Tom Kitten, but there are some tough types in this field, and he could struggle to show his best.
However, he’s good enough to figure in the finish, and he’s another first four chance. A win wouldn’t surprise us, but we want slightly better odds than $8.
(3) Antino ($5.00)
Antino got back to winning form with two excellent wins in Queensland last preparation, and it’s good to see him back to his best.
He owns a win and a placing at Caulfield, and he’s good enough to ride the speed and kick clear on the home turn.
Take the $5 odds and include him in picks.
(4) Here to Shock (Best Roughie – $18.00)
There aren’t too many roughie types in this field that have a chance to win, but Here to Shock is good enough to cause an upset.
His form comes around some smart types, and the $18 odds should be considered.
(5) Buckaroo ($34.00)
He’s looking for longer races later this spring, so we won’t be backing him until he lines up over 2000+.
(6) Another Wil (Best Bet – $4.20)
It’s not an easy race for Another Wil, but he’s an explosive type fresh up with four starts for three wins and a placing.
He owns nine wins from 16 starts overall, with four wins coming at Caulfield, so he’s a good statistic bet for the Memsie Stakes.
Take the $4.20 odds from bookmakers.
(7) Pinstriped ($34.00)
We used to enjoy betting on Pinstriped, but he hasn’t been showing his best form lately. We will get back in the run, but that’s where he could stay.
(8) Is It Me ($67.00)
He ended last preparation with three consecutive wins, but they didn’t come at Group 1 level, and he could struggle to perform.
He finished fourth at Morphettville last start, which isn’t a good enough form guide.
(9) Fangirl ($5.50)
Fangirl was scratched last week due to the heavy conditions, and with rain forecast in Melbourne, she could struggle in the conditions.
The $5.50 odds aren’t overly enticing given the conditions, and she has yet to race at Caulfield, which isn’t an easy track to handle.
(10) Zardozi ($91.00)
He’s a dour distance type, hence the long odds. We expect him to struggle against the elite middle-distance types.
(11) Treasurethe Moment (Best Each Way – $5.50)
She had a massive autumn campaign, and although the four-year-old mare hasn’t faced this level of opposition, she has the most upside.
After opening at $7, she has been well-backed to score, and that should give punters confidence.
