Proisir Plate Form Guide & Tips

(1) El Vencedor (Best Each Way – $10.00)

He’s one of the best thoroughbreds in New Zealand, and although he flopped in Hong Kong, many good horses to that.

His record at Ellerslie is impressive, boasting five wins from six starts, and he’s our best each-way because of that.

(2) Waitak ($23.00)

He ended last preparation with back-to-back wins, but that could prove tough to replicate in the Proisir Plate.

(3) Sacred Satono ($27.00)

Money has come for Sacred Satono after opening at $34, but we can’t find room for him. He will be a better bet later in the spring.

(4) Habana ($34.00)

His form isn’t good enough to figure in the finish at Group 1 level. The inside draw is ideal, but he’s another runner who is best to back later this spring.

(5) Sterling Express (Best Roughie – $13.00)

The five-year-old owns eight wins from 19 starts, including four wins this preparation. Graduating to Group 1 level is ideal, and he could sneak under the radar.

Punters get $13, which is a fair price for an in-form runner.

(6) Herbert ($61.00)

Big odds are available for Herbert, but he’s better going the other way around. We can’t see him winning this race.

(7) Navigator ($19.00)

He’s better than his form suggests, but he needs to win a race before we include him in picks at the Group 1 level.

(8) Dusty Road ($41.00)

He’s taking a long time to win another race, and it’s unlikely to come here. We can’t include him in Proisir Plate picks.

(9) Tuxedo ($10.00)

Owning four wins from seven starts is a good record, and the four-year-old is good enough to figure in the finish.

The double-figure odds make him a first-four pick, so include him in multiples.

(10) Checkmate ($19.00)

Checkmate ran eighth at Rosehill last start, and his form should improve back in New Zealand. However, we would rather back him in something much easier.

(11) Legarto ($4.80)

He owns three fresh up wins, and he’s one of the more talented thoroughbreds in the field. We’re not surprised by the odds, and he was close to being the top pick.

(12) La Crique ($8.00)

She’s a classy mare, but her best form comes with a run under her belt. She has yet to win from six fresh up starts, but she’s still good enough to go close.

(13) Grail Seeker (Best Bet – $4.80)

Grail Seeker didn’t fire in Australia, but she’s a proven Group 1 winner, and her best form comes fresh up.

She comes off an impressive trial performance, and the track conditions are ideal for her to strike at Group 1 level. We’re loving the $4.80 odds available with bookmakers.

(14) Qali Al Farrasha ($23.00)

She is only a two-time winner, so she could struggle to keep up over this distance.

(15) Quintessa ($31.00)

Her fresh up form reads well, but most of that has come in lower grades. There are some smart types her, so back her on another day.

(16) Tomadachi ($8.50)

She owns six wins from nine starts, including a win at Ellerslie. Those haven’t come against this level of class, so the $8.50 odds are a touch short for our liking.
