Randwick racing tips

Race 1. (11:30) ATC Bookmakers Recognition Day Handicap (1100m)

#1 – Beskar @ $2.40

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Beskar lost no admirers with a terrific performance for third behind North England and King in Pop, in what was a driving finish.

The two-year-old colt by Snitzel won on debut at Geelong by 2.3 lengths, and he has more upside that most runners in this field.

James McDonald rides, so take the odds before they shorten.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (12:05) Midway BM72 (1100m)

#6 – Smashing Time @ $5.00

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Smashing Time runs his best races fresh up, as he showed last preparation when scoring at Kembla Grange by a half-length.

The three-year-old gelding by Brave Smash owns two wins and two placings from nine starts, and it’s about time he showed something at Randwick.

If he gets luck from a wide draw, he should be right in the finish.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (12:40) Tab Highway C3 (1000m)

#15 – Speedy Henry @ $4.50

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

We loved the way Speedy Henry kicked clear when winning at Scone last time out, and that form looks good for racing at Randwick.

The leaders have been having a good time of it, especially over shorter distances, and he’ll likely control the speed and kick clear.

Getting in with 54kg only makes him harder to beat.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 4. (13:15) Jeff Pendlebury BM78 (1000m)

#6 – Passeggiata @ $4.60

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

We are giving Passeggiata one more chance to show us something until she banished from future tips.

The five-year-old mare looked above average early in his career, and her best form always comes fresh up, so now is the time to strike.

The inside draw with a light weight could be all she needs to show her best.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (13:50) Tom Bingle BM94 (1800m)

#4 – State of America @ $11.00

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Gunning for consecutive wins is State of America, who got back to winning form with a win at Hawkesbury by a nose.

The five-year-old son of American Pharoah is a seven-time winner, and his best is easily good enough to handle this field.

He owns two wins at Randwick, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (14:25) Terry Marskell BM78 (1200m)

#10 – Invader Zim @ $17.00

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Invader Zim is in the same boat as Passeggiata earlier on the card, but we’re prepared to give him a couple of chances.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding ran second fresh up at Randwick, and something close to that would be good enough to handle this field.

His confidence is down, but Waller could get the best out of him on Saturday.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (15:00) Neville Waters BM78 (1200m)

#2 – Lonhro’s Queen @ $5.50

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Lonhro’s Queen is gunning for three consecutive wins this preparation after scoring at Scone and Hawkesbury in fine style.

The four-year-old mare by Lonhro defeated Acappella Sun by just under a length last start, and getting 2kg off his back helps with the weight.

We’ve seen stronger fields at BM78, so she could take advantage.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (15:35) Precise Air BM100 (1500m)

#10 – Wootton Verni @ $9.00

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Wootton Verni is a former French runner for Chris Waller, who looked good when running second in a trial at Warwick Farm.

The four-year-old son of Woottoon Bassett is a nice type with five wins from nine starts, and French runners often perform well in Australia.

1500m is short of his best, but we fancy his chances of winning.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 9. (16:15) NSW Bookmakers Co-Op BM72 (1400m)

#1 – Sydney Bowler @ $26.00

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Not everything has gone right for Sydney Bowler, who pulled up with heat stress in his last two races. However, he’s talented at his best.

He showed good speed to win his first three races before spelling, and despite being distressed, he has finished fourth twice this prep.

He’s honest, and worthy of another chance at this level.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 10. (16:50) Tab BM78 (1600m)

#1 – Know Thyself @ $2.60

picklebetUse Code: 'GOBET500'Check Offers

Gunning for three wins on the bounce is Know Thyself, who put away a good field to win the Country Championships.

The four-year-old owns five wins from eight starts, and although carrying 61kg isn’t ideal, he has more upside than most here.

We believe he can rise to another level on Saturday.

Stake: 2 Units
