Rockhampton racing tips
—
Race 1. (11:53) Ray White Rockhampton Maiden (1500m)
#1 – The Hackneydiamond
Consistency is with The Hackneydiamond, who comes off four consecutive placings.
The four-year-old gelding by Toronado has yet to race at Rocky, but there isn’t much to this field, and he could take advantage.
Look for him to settle handy and kick well.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (12:30) Knight Frank Argibusiness Handicap (1100m)
#4 – Tipsy Tiger
Tipsy Tiger has made a good start to her career with a win and three placings, and she could add another to her record on Sunday.
The three-year-old filly by Jungle Cat ran third at Ipswich fresh up, and being from the Tony Gollan stable helps her cause.
We expect her to be right in the thick of it.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 3. (13:05) Clark Rubber Maiden (1200m)
#9 – Badlifedecision
Boasting two second placings this prep is Badlifedecision, and it could be a good life decision to back her on Sunday.
The three-year-old filly by Heroic Valour ran second at Rockhampton last start, and there isn’t much to beat in this field.
Dropping to 53kg makes her tough to beat.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 4. (13:40) Paradise Lagoons Amateurs Cup (1600m)
#2 – Tojaki
Tojaki is much better than her recent form suggests, and we’re backing her to get back to her best form.
The Stuart Kendrick-trained mare is a five-time winner from 17 starts, and she could get her confidence back against this field.
Barrier four with Jake Bayliss riding helps.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (14:15) Frasers Livestock Transport BM70 (1100m)
#2 – Early Fusion
Looking to win four on the bounce is Early Fusion, who is a six-time winner from 13 starts overall.
The four-year-old son of Headwater is a two-time winner at Rocky, and with 3kg coming off his back, he has every chance to win again.
This race is his for the taking, so put him on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (14:50) Milne Bros Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Lamentum
Lamentum didn’t fire at Mackay last time out, but we’re prepared to give him another chance at this level.
The three-year-old gelding by Deep Field runs his best races here with a win and three placings, so he saves his best for Rockhampton.
Barrier two is ideal, so he should get every chance.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 7. (15:30) Bentleys The Fitzroy (1300m)
#12 – Hellish @ $7.50
Each-way value is with Hellish, who is already a two-time winner this prep and a tough winner over Kathy’s Beau last start.
That form stacks up well considering Kathy’s Beau is the favourite, and punters get much better odds for Hellish at $7.50.
54kg is ideal, so he’s worth backing.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 8. (16:06) Sherrin Rentals The Archer (1300m)
#5 – Transatlantic @ $3.90
Money has come for Transatlantic, who owns five wins and five placings from 13 career starts.
The four-year-old son of Snitzel ended last prep with a win at Eagle Farm, and it got the better of Robusto last time out.
It could pay to follow the strong betting moves.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 9. (16:40) City Printing Works BM58 (1300m)
#6 – Magic Game
Nothing wrong with its form last campaign, including three wins from her last five attempts.
She is a three-time winner at Rocky, and her best form comes here, so that’s a good sign for punters looking to back her.
It’s an open field and she could take advantage.
Stake: 1 Unit
