Scone horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:20) Scone RSL Maiden (1000m)

#6 – I Am Brave @ $1.70

Money has come for I Am Brave, who has looked good at the trials to prepare for this race.

The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible won a trial at Randwick before placing at the Rosehill trials, so that’s good form.

$1.70 is short, but she’s worth including in multis.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (12:55) Pryde’s Maiden (1300m)

#7 – Solitario @ $2.50

Looking to improve on a debut second placing is Solitario, who ran second at Armidale as a $2.90 chance.

The three-year-old gelding by Pariah has been rock-solid in betting markets since opening, and it’s good to see him being well-backed.

He’s another runner worth including in multis.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (13:35) Inglis 2YO Challenge (1100m)

#3 – Cosmonaut @ $7.50

Cosmonaut is on debut for David Payne, and although his trial form is only average, he wasn’t asked for much.

The two-year-old of Cosmic Force is bred for speed, and his most recent trial was a solid fourth at Rosehill, which bodes well for his debut.

We’re happy to include him in picks at the current odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:10) Gulliver’s C1 (1100m)

#4 – Aged Care @ $4.50

Aged Care owns a win and three placings from five starts, including a second placing at Sunshine Coast last time out.

The Kris Lees-trained gelding has made a positive start to his career, and Lees-trained runners often go well at Scone.

Barrier four is ideal and the $4.50 odds are generous.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (14:50) Kia Ora C1 (1600m)

#3 – Pelosa @ $7.00

Pelosa looked good winning at Hawkesbury two starts back before placing at Randwick last start, and that came by a nose.

The three-year-old filly by Russian Revolution is paying longer odds than expected, so we’re happy to take the value odds.

A good ride from Kerrin McEvoy could be enough to get her home.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:25) Newgate C2 (1300m)

#10 – Smoke on the Water @ $9.50

Smoke on the Water kicked off his career with two wins before finishing second at Tamworth last time out.

He lost no admirers with that effort, and he has been primed with a trial placing at Muswellbrook in heavy conditions.

It’s not easy from barrier 18, but he could sit handy and kick well.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (16:05) Darley Scone Cup (1600m)

#15 – Know Thyself @ $2.70

Know Thyself has been money for punters this preparation having won his last four starts, including the Provincial Championships.

The four-year-old is unbeaten in two starts at Scone, and getting in with only 54kg on his back makes him the one to beat.

Take the odds before more money comes for the favourite.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 8. (16:40) Vinery Country Cup (1400m)

#13 – Like Lukey @ $9.50

Like Lukey was good enough to win three consecutive races last preparation, and she could hit the ground running this time in.

The Lees-trained mare owns three wins and five placings, so she doesn’t need to improve much to win at generous each-way odds.

Include her in picks at the weights.

Stake: 1 Unit
