Wodonga racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:30) Macjac Sheds Maiden (2050m)
#10 – The Right Page @ $3.40
The Right Page comes off consecutive placings at Wangaratta and Geelong, so she looks ready to break through for a win.
She was no match for the winner at Geelong, finishing fourth lengths behind the winner, but she went out a little too hard for our liking.
Rising in distance should allow her to settle and show good kick.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 2. (14:00) Vale John Waite Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Needtobeseen @ $7.00
Needtobeseen has had six trials, and he has yet to record a win or placing, but he gets blinkers on, which could make all the difference.
The Payne-trained gelding by Time Test has been respected in betting markets, which is a good sign in a race like this.
We’re happy to take the value odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (14:30) North East Forklift Services Maiden (1300m)
#5 – Handy Friend @ $4.20
Handy Friend ran third on debut at Moe before spelling, and he could hit the ground running this preparation.
The three-year-old son of Lean Mean Machine has prepared with trial placings at Bendigo and Caulfield, which is a good sign.
After opening at $5.50, money has come for him thick and fast.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 4. (15:00) Thank You Jack Maher BM58 (1590m)
#8 – Shoeless @ $5.00
Shoeless is struggling to win races, but after finishing second at Werribee, we’re happy to give him one more chance.
The four-year-old son of Shooting to Win is much better than a two-time winner, and there has been some market confidence at $5.
It’s an even field, so include him in picks on an each-way basis.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:30) Gullifer Farm Handicap (2050m)
#11 – Darn Hot Miss @ $3.50
Darn Hot Miss is running well this campaign, including a win at Avoca before placing at Benalla last time out.
The three-year-old daughter of Too Darn Hot hasn’t been facing overly tough fields, but there are no superstars in this field.
She could take advantage down in the weights.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 6. (16:00) Bet365 Never Ordinary BM58 (1100m)
#6 – Rowdy Anthem @ $2.70
Rowdy Anthem won on debut at Wodonga before struggling in two subsequent runs, but he should find this much easier.
He ran at The Valley last time out before spelling and coming back with a trial win at Benalla, which he won by six lengths.
4kg comes off his back, so take the shortening odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 7. (16:30) MForce Security Handicap (1300m)
#6 – Yam @ $5.00
The four-year-old owns two wins and five placings from 15 starts, so he hasn’t been far away from the mark throughout his career.
He comes off a tidy fourth at Kyneton, and he typically runs well second-up, so we’re happy to include him our picks at the price.
He likes to ride the speed, which helps at Wodonga, so put him on top.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (17:00) Border Carpets Handicap (1300m)
#3 – The Wizard King @ $6.50
Boasting two wins from his last three starts is The Wizard King, and although the wins came in lower grades, he’s still running well.
The five-year-old son of Flying Artie scored by a length at Avoca last time out, and his best form comes on good tracks with 16 starts for four wins.
It’s an even field, so snap up the each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
