NRL Magic Round kicks off on Friday May 2 at 6pm when the Sharks and Eels battle at Suncorp Stadium.
The odds favour the Sharks to come away with the win, but the Eels seek an upset victory, and we wouldn’t put it past them.

Sharks vs. Eels Predictions
—
Best Bet
Eels +5.5 @ $1.90
After a tough start to the year, the Eels bounced back with wins over the Dragons and Tigers. They scored a 38-22 win over the Tigers last week, and getting Mitch Moses back in the team was crucial for their success.
The Sharks come off a loss to the Tigers, and although they’re the short favourites to win this game, we don’t think there is any value with the Sharks, and many of their best players aren’t performing at a high level.
Moses is playing much better than Sharks’ half Nicho Hynes, who appears to be down on confidence. That’s not what you want for your best attacking player, and the Eels could take advantage as a +5.5 underdog.
Playing at a neutral venue adds to the Eels’ chances.

Same Game Multi
Eels +5.5, Josh Addo-Carr Anytime Try Scorer, Ronaldo Mulitalo Anytime Try Scorer, Over 46.5 @ $10.00
History suggests that it will be a high scoring contest, with 56 points scored in 2024 and 2023, so over 46.5 is a good line from bookmakers. There are points in the Sharks and Eels, and we can’t see defence being the storyline out of this game.
Punters get a good line for the over, and Eels +5.5. It should be a close game, so punters should include both options in NRL same game multi picks.
We’re also including Josh Addo-Carr and Ronaldo Mulitalo to score a try. Addo-Carr scored a double last week, and the Eels flyer should be confident of scoring his fifth try from his last four games. He’s a $1.95 chance to score, which is good shopping.
Mulitalo scored an overdue try last week, and we’re happy to stick with him. He cashed for us last week, and we’re confident that he’ll score again.
Best Value Bet
Eels Halftime/Fulltime @ $3.60
We look the safer option with Eels +5.5, but we are confident of the Eels winning the game outright. They are the more confident team, especially after the Sharks blew a great chance to beat the Tigers last week.
They’re not doing the little things right, and although the Eels are on the outside looking in, they won 34-22 last year, and they’re a team playing with more confidence.
Take the generous $3.60 for a halftime-fulltime double.
