The World Club Challenge is always an exciting pre-season NRL game as the winner of the NRL and Super League battle for world supremacy.
Penrith has named a full-strength team for the challenge, so punters get to see all the best players from last season, including Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai.
St Helens have some familiar faces with Konrad Hurrell, Will Hopoate, and Sione Mata’utia.
We look at the best World Club Challenge bets for Saturday’s game.

Panthers vs St Helens Prediction
The Panthers have been well-favoured to win the game with bookmakers and that’s not surprising given the game is played in Penrith.
It’s never easy for the road team to win the World Club Challenge, especially when it’s the English team coming to Australia.
The quality of the NRL competition is light years above Super League, but points spread markets are there for a reason and it could be a tightly run race with the 18.5-point spread.
The Saints get a hefty head start over 80 minutes, but we question their stamina. They don’t have the same level of strike players as the Panthers, and although we would love to see Hurrell wind up and take it to the defence, the former New Zealand Warriors tires easily.
Penrith has a team that looks formidable, and the back line is packed with its usual stars. Stephen Cricton is at full back, and although there are some players missing in the midfield, they have the weapons needed to put up a big number on the Saints.
We think the –18.5 is a tough number to cover but it could be a second-half blitz. The Panthers can run up big scores on the best NRL teams, let alone the Saints, who travelled halfway around the world.

First Tryscorer Tips
We expect plenty of tries to be scored during the Panthers vs Saints game and there is great value in who will score first.
The current favourite is Taylan May for the Panthers at $7.50. The young player has had his issues off the field, but he’s usually on the end of a Cleary pass to cross the white line. Therefore, we’re happy to lock him in.
May plays on the wing and that’s where many of the Panthers tries are scored. Cleary and Luai are dynamic at setting up their wingers and May could be the sole benefactor.
We’re also going to include Mitch Kenny. The hooker doesn’t score all that often but he’s a speedy runner who could catch the Saints napping from dummy half. His $34 odds are generous and we’re including him in selections.
There is also an anytime tryscorer market and we thought we would include a Saints player. Tommy Makinson is a solid winger, and although he’s coming up against a stiff Panthers defence, he could crash over for a try.
Makinson pays $2.50 to score at any time during the World Club Challenge.
